Lady Vols assistant Jolette Law leaving for South Carolina

well, Cooper just left for there...:dunno:...:whistling:

GO LADY VOLS!

I don't think it's related. Te'a and her sister both almost went to SC out of high school.

Jolette is from SC and still has family there. She also is a great fit for the opening left by Nikki leaving.

That being said, hope those TN fans that are happy for Staley's success enjoy having her pillage and preen as the best. Her success is not that good for TN.

I wish JL the best and hope HW can attract a skilled replacement, I can't help but wonder if JL's departure isn't indicative of a greater problem. i.e. "get out while the running's good" We can only wait and see. Go LV!!

LOL. Te'a never almost went to SC out of HS.

My understanding was SC was in top 3 and they were still listed until signing day. Recall TN/UNC seemed to be Te'a leaders (until DD transferred? ).

My point was that both Te'a and her family knew Staley and SC because they were heavily recruited. I think it was an easy fit now because of that.

Do you agree?

Thanks for the correction.

Hope we can find a great replacement soon right in the middle of recruiting need to have five top players committed by November.

This is more Warlick regime craziness. I doubt this move hurts UT's coaching--no departure of current staff could hurt coaching--but it most certainly could hurt recruiting this year because Law certainly was involved with various prospects and will now try to turn a few of them to South Carolina.

As usual,I agree with your analysis.

That is what she is supposed to do . But do not think for one second that jolette did not inform holly of her intentions before it was announced and if you pay attention sharrona has been more hands on with the recruiting as of late . She has been taking over really contacting the players and jazmine massengill was reaves recruit FYI

I'll be more comfortable once Westbrook is enrolled. Hopefully those committed will stay the course and we can land Nicoletti and Decosta along with another quality post. Fingers crossed .

I get that Law has quite a bit of motivation to make the jump to SC, but this situation along with Te'a begs the question of how much Dawn Staley is in the ear of Tennessee people. Do you think this is just because of this year's NC Run (which they should be thanking Vic Shaefer for,) or is Staley actively Poaching?

I think as soon as Staley knew she was losing a coach.... her search for replacement started! And as soon as the announcement of her coach leaving ... her phone started to blow up with incoming calls!!!!

Law and Staley were talking for a long time before this move was announced!!!!!!

I wonder if Holly's phone is ringing?

This will b a huge decision by Holly. Even though we haven't been to the final 4 in awhile, coaching at Tennessee has to strike huge interest from quality candidates.

Yes, I agree. Tennessee's well-established sports tradition is still attractive, I'm sure, but the Knoxville area also has a pretty good reputation as a nice place to live, particularly for the adventurous.

I suspect Westbrooks is scheduled to enroll in August. She will be trying out for the u19 team also.

Why should we be thanking Shaefer?? We beat Miss St 3 times and UCONN was certainly not invincible. Everyone's acting like they blew us out the first outing when they only won by 11. With the way our team was playing in the tourney we could have beaten anyone and we would have matched up much better with UCONN with Gray at the 4.

You should thank Shaefer for beating UCONN for you guys! No way you beat UCONN without Coates. Williams or Collier would have had a field day without Coates presence in the lane.

You must haven't watched the first matchup. The reason we lost was because of Coates. She was a big liability because she couldn't guard Williams. And offensively she took up too much space in the lane. With the floor spread wide open UCONN wouldn't have had an answer for Wilson and Gray would have shut Williams down because she doesn't have a 3 point shot and can out quick Posts not a versatile guard like Gray. Mark it down the way Kaela Davis was scoring as Harris was distributing the ball SC could have beaten UCONN without a doubt. And let's not act like Wilson isn't a big presence in the lane she was averaging 4.5 blocks in the tourney so she could hold down the lane just fine.

I'm surprised Catchings hasn't been mentioned.
I would be absolutely thrilled to get either Kara or Catch on staff. SO much knowledge and skill from those two at their respective positions and no one has more love and respect for the Tennessee and Lady Vol brand than those two.
