Says the guy who would have stayed in the boat clutching his rifle while his brother's stormed the beaches of Normandy.
That is sad .....to base your views on how recruits will view kneeling.Kneeling for the National Anthem is a disgrace....it demeans our flag and our country I do not care if you are categorized as liberal, conservative, red, blue ,black ,yellow, brown or albino.Millions have served in our military to preserve freedom so anyone can do what they wish in this regard but do not use the University as a platform for the same.I talked with the Chancellor on this issue yesterday.I served in the Army for 28 years and was in two wars and a scrape in Panama.....its is sad to see anyone use kneeling to protest our country during the National Anthem. The team deserved to be BOOED and if it happens again I hope they are booed off the court.agree with you and maybe recruits read the article and idk maybe took it some way..its no secret that Tennessee is a conservative state and some of their fans are conservative and took offense to the kneeling....then maybe going to schools like uconn and schools out west who tend to be more liberal and align with their views is more attractive then getting booed at you own home who are supposedly supposed to be ur fans ..wonder how the Arkansas players who all stood for the anthem feel abt our players getting booed at home...
I am sorry Lucy you are dead wrong .Have you served in the Military and had hot lead flying around your ass to help preserve the freedoms in the Country called the United States of America ? I have for 28 years and thru two wars and a scrape in Panama .Have you visited Cuba,Veneuzula,Communist China,Russia,Costa Rico,Bolivia, etc and witnessed what it like to live in those countries ? There has been no country on this planet in the long history of the world that has better conditions to live than these United States of America.Kneeling is not disrespectful. That is just a cover whine for those who don’t want to address the issue.
We should probably just agree to disagree as this topic starts veering to a political discussion.
Emily's dad and Jordan Horston dad are US veterans and they took no offense to it when their daughter kneeled.I am sorry Lucy you rare dead wrong .Have you served in the Military and had hot lead flying around your ass to help preserve the freedoms in the Country called the United States of America ? If you want to live in a centralized governmental society just keep up protests in the streets burning buildings ,killing people, maiming people ,destroying historical statues ,burning the flag ,injuring and killing policemen who are trying to do their job.Fact is those are rules right out of the Marxist playbook to overthrow countries like Venezuela,Cuba ,etc.First and foremost is to create divisions in society thru any means necessary, attack police ,discredit the Justice system .create doubt in the voting system ( if they have one ),generate protests in the street etc.And .oh by the way that is the Facsists playbook as well just look at how Hitler took over Germany in the 1930 and was successful due to the use of slick use of propaganda in the media ( motion pictures was coming into vogue ).
So yes we can sadly agree to disagree on the topic of disrespect of our Flag ,Country and kneeling during the National Anthem.I am damn proud of our country and what it stands for ,how it is made up and the freedoms we enjoy and cringe every time someone ....anyone uses our Flag and Kneeling during the National Anthem in protest of the Greatest country that this planet has ever experienced in the freedoms we enjoy every day to pursue our dreams .
The most sane post I have yet seen on this issue.Fact is the NBA and NFL learned that lesson the hard way ,loss of business in the way of viewers and now their mantel is togetherness ......I don't understand how people think that kneeling will accomplish anything. Just like wearing a particular colored ribbon or a tee shirt. Yes, it makes people aware but does nothing to reach a solution to an issue IMHO. Why not do something for your country or your community if you want change? Educate yourself, become involved as an active part of a group to help educate others to bring folks together. People who don't know you don't understand you and will not want to if all you do is bully or intimidate. Again, kneeling to try to 'disrespect' a country does NOTHING in the eyes of people who just might understand and work side-by-side with you if you make the effort to understand them. Most people in this country don't have a problem with other folks who work hard and contribute. There will always be idiots no matter what skin color or faith or political party, so get used to it. Get educated, involved and stop trying to force others to give you something. Intimidation does not work. Be a part of the solution....GO VOLS
How many have been killed or maimed or injured during BLM and Antifa so called "peaceful protests ? How much property damage was done by the same acts.Fact is there over 2700 ( 28 killed ) policemen injured in those " peaceful " protests and by Insurance Company estimates $ 3billion in damages to private property.Your right, all that is much weaker getting people killed and attempting to stop an fairly elected President to take office. All started by an anonymous online hoax.
All be it very misguided, the BLM was about things that actually happend.
Btw, like golf, basketball is a women's sport.
By the way Lucy did you ever meet Pat Summitt ? Just for your info I did .I attended practices and discussed every day issues as well as basketball.I attended games and discussed the games with her often after the games were over.So ,yes I believe I knew how she thought on a lot of issues .I can truthfully proclaim that given the environment in this country today I do not know how Pat would come down on kneeling during the National Anthem but I do know from having several discussions with her personally that she believed in this country ,the freedoms in this country and the freedom to pursue your dreams for success. She imbued those dreams in the Women she coached. So ,I will say that your profession of her support of players kneeling is not well founded.I think Pat would have supported the team 100% in kneeling. For those of us who have never been a young black person we should probably strive to understand what they are saying not dismissing them out of hand.
he posted on twitter..Chris Saunders is a veteran and a father to Emily Saunders
Chris Saunders a man who has served his country and a father to a Lady Vol that kneeledI also know Maria Cornelius and have for 20 years.I quit posting on the Summitt because of the political bias and attacks by several posters on that board and Maria backed those posters one of which is a board moderator. What do you think those parents would say today if you are I asked them what they thought about their daughter kneeling during the National anthem .I woul bet dollars to donuts that they would defend their daughter's right to kneel but I would also bet that they just might not be for their daughter kneeling ...there is a distinct difference in the two.
and ESPNs liberal media ( that loves showing this stuff, even though they dont bother showing the NA on most games) would have ate him alive had he said he was against itChris Saunders a man who has served his country and a father to a Lady Vol that kneeled
Chris Saunders: "I know allot of Marines aren’t offended, they’re proud. I’m one of’em. / we did OUR due diligence so they have the right to do theirs. If ppl would stop being such crappy ppl, there wouldn’t be a need to kneel in the first place. Disrespect & passion are totally different"
Asking if they had a right to kneel and asking if they are proud of their daughters kneeling are two distinctly different views /questions altogether .There will be ( probably over 90%) of veterans who would say they have a right to kneel because of the right to free speech and many of them would say they served to help preserve that freedom.....I would answer with that response and have answered with that response .But ,that same 90+ % would probably say a resounding no when asked if they approved and were proud of the kneeling during the National Anthem.Chris Saunders a man who has served his country and a father to a Lady Vol that kneeled
