Lady Vols - National Anthem

Oh my goodness! And here I was concerned that our country was being attacked by a prolific virus and violent insurrectionists who were incited by the president. Student-athletes peacefully protesting the obvious double-standard our government has for different races in this country? Now THAT’s troubling.
Vote them out, don't disrespect the country and the freedoms it offers..

Bingo!! The basketball court is not the place for it!! However, the cameras are there..
Nope, you missed the point. If you’re a fan, a true fan, and genuinely care about these young women as people, you would try to empathize with their pain if it’s not something you understand. They’re using their platform in a peaceful manner. It’s always the right time to do the right thing.

"Corrections will be made"??? When??? We are seeing the lack of coaching and the same ole "crap" from last year and now this year too!! I have had it with this team...first the kneeling during the National Anthem and the "lazy" up and down the floor...many more losses are coming.
The most sacred form in the world is kneeling! Maybe, just maybe you should try it , then maybe, just maybe, you would learn that, "you don't judge unless you be judged" !

What is their pain? Other than kneeling, because they have grown up in a culture where they need constant attention, they look pretty happy to me.

The right thing would be to not fold under the idiocy they see perpetuated by their idols. That would be the right thing.

Agree with you totally! Maybe they should be practicing "kneeling while the National Anthem is played".
Actually I would recommend kneeling in the locker room in prayer to have enough energy to play the whole game with motivation to compete .As others have said this is a poorly coached and motivated team.I would play walkons if my team loafed like most of the team did in the 2nd half ....dis- band the team and start over with players that want to play the game .Apparently all they are interested in is "woke " stuff and protesting in public on the court .It has occurred to me that the 2nd half performance was in fact a protest in itself.

I talked to several arena workers before the game, as I often do,,,one told me about the plan to do the anthem 10 min before the game started.
You don't do that to kids trying to make a statement,,,,I am ex-Army and I loathe Colin Kapernick for ever starting this fad. And if anyone ever burns a flag in front of me, they better be ready to fight me.

But leave politics out of the game, This was a chess match between the admin and the players.
Bad move.
it was a knee-jerk reaction to the players

They may have come out energetic but they had this in their mind and once they got an opportunity to shut down, they did.

I got your point,and I disagree.

I have to wonder where their heads are? Disinterested play, knelling during the national anthem and now staying in the locker room during the anthem. Are they too woke to play?
they should do what the Duke womens team did - quit the season

So you have great Black friends , unless they kneel about injustice, that you will never experience! It's better to be thought to be racial, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt! Let's Go Lady Vols!
I can kneel and pray about the known injustice in this country ..hearts have to be changed .. praying is all I know to do .. Kneeling for a National Anthem is just plain disrespectful to our Country .. My friends are hitting the real issues ... they want their race to be better .. act better .. be responsible .. they dont see that .. its a part that most dont want to talk about .. truth ... yes its truth that there are racial injustice .. it needs fixed .. but dont ignore the other socila issues facing their race .. they choose not to ignore it ..they want to have just as much attention made to those facts as racial injustice .. they want their race to be better ..better people, husbands , workers etc .. there are bad white and black that are in this boat ... but in some cases the black race has a better opportunity to climb out of that that the whites in that same situations ...

Well put .The threat unfortunately is indeed from inside the country and yes imo the country is on the precipice of determining if it will be socialist/Marxist or ultimately communist. The Marxism (Marx& Engels) playbook being played by BLM/Antifa and the like has taken root with millions of people due to propaganda machines ( mainstream media and mega social media organizations) and the trend to teach socialism principles in many universities in this country for the last two decades. What I mean by Marxist principles/playbook /strategy to turn countries to socialism/Marxism/Communism include : dividing the populace on race,caste/social standing in society,or anything else that would work;attacks on police system ;discrediting the justice system ,create doubt about the governmental Departments and system such as the FBI,Intelligence Departments ;attacks on religion /faith organizations;suppression of any other views other than centralized government being the end all solution to the problems facing the country ;attacks on the military;disarming the populace, and finally redistribution of wealth thru various mechanisms .Unfortunately ,they have been very successful in implementing much of their playbook....just ask those immigrants from Cuba and Venezuela who are in this country how they feel about the events that have unfolded in this country thru the riots and they will/have tellor have told anyone who will listen is those events took place inside their country on the way to Communist Control and loss of freedom to pursue their individual dreams. Unfortunately ,the majority of people in this country have their eyes shut as to what is happening and are unaware of what the consequences will be.By the way Fascism under Hiltler made use of the same playbook ...they just used hate " Jews " as their principle tactic ....Hitler made use of the latest in technology called the " movies " in the 1930's to spread NAZI propaganda. and turn the country ...the rest is history as is Russia,Communist China,Cuba,Venezuela.

The latest election shows how successful the Marxist playbook has become in this country including the depths of what measures taken to steal the election in Atlanta,Philadelphia,Pittsburg,Detroit,Las Vegas.Phoenix,Milwaukee,Minneapolis......there are others but those were the main ones where Democrats were in total charge of the Voting mechanisms including the local courts and Attorney Generals.

I will get off my soapbox now and yield time back to other posters who have different views.

Great post. One of the best I have read concerning the election, and here in the politics forum we have thousands of them. Many like-minded folks here.

I salute the courage of the players and coaches who chose NOT to kneel. That wasn't easy...they are surely good friends with all the others that did kneel. They had to explain why and endure criticism at a minimum. That takes guts. That is the actual " standing for what you believe in".

Proud of you folks.

BLM the organization is an openly Marxist/Communist organization that shows plainly on its website that it funneled hundreds of millions of $ donated to them for helping minorities to democrats thru Act blue. Easy to confirm. People were defrauded of millions. So stupid.

Black folks however, have legitimate feelings about their place in the world and more specifically police interactions which need the attention. Police must be held accountable just like everyone else when they do wrong. No doubt.

Choosing to "protest " during the NA when millions of Americans have already made it clear how this is disrespectful to our country and veterans is a poor decision. People make poor decisions all the time, there is nothing special about this one. I will not support it though. Dumb move.

We have far bigger issues to deal with than this poor decision however. The 1st post I highlighted is a great start.

What Do you mean “ In this society”? You do realize how Far this country has come in the last 50 years with regards to equality, right? 12 years ago we elected a president that was black and even re-elected him. He was elected not because black people voted for him, but because white people voted for him. We are getting ready to have a black VP. I really don’t understand statements like the one you made?
more in regards to police brutality ( which has gotten way worse recently ). i understand we’ve made advancements when it comes to equality but we still have a long way to go.

Well said !!

I dare you to post one shred of evidence he incited anything.

I don’t have to, 10 House Republicans said he did. Several Corporations, including the PGA said he did. Social media said he did. A couple banks said he did. Officials resigning in protest said he did. I don’t know what this has to do with the LV’s action. It doesn’t matter what I think and it doesn’t matter what you think either.
