Lady Vols - National Anthem

It has zero to do with hate 🤣...zero to do with the military as well before that is brought up...it's about people wanting their country to be better.

Goodness. This has only been happening for about 7 or 8 years now...and I thought Drew Brees was bad when he only began to understand it a few years ago. Apparently a teammate had to literally explain it to him...guess he hadn't asked anyone in all those years or even read an article somehow. I call that willful.

Is it really about wanting this country to be better or is it wanting to change this country to think the way they want us to think? If you want the country to be better then why use the National Anthem or the Flag to try to make the point? There are more people in this country that loves our flag and National Anthem than the ones you think wants this country to be better. These people are a small minority that are out here doing this. If you think Drew Brees thing was about he only began to understand and a teammate had to explain to him then you are easily fooled. Brees only walked it back so he would not ruffle the feathers of his teammates and to please the NFL. He looked like a coward and gave in to the so called wokeness. So your saying Brees was too stupid to figure it out on his own and it had to be explained to him by a teammate? So your stance on the National Anthem has always been what is in bold?

Spoken like someone that wants to trash Will Smith while giving the guy he slapped a free pass for a classless demeaning act. Maybe he will next find a Lady dealing with cancer and be looking forward to her remake of the movie Beaches, or a lady with Alzheimer's to make the first run Pat Summitt movie before her brain is ravaged. Those ought to get a laugh and make a bold statement about free speech. I am most saddened that Will seemed to find it funny till he looked across the table and saw the look on his wife's face.
What a load of 🦬💩

But i did hear about south Carolina refusing to come out of the locker room for our national anthem. That’s disgraceful maybe they would rather move and play their Bball in China or Russia or North Korea. If you hate our anthem and this country so much then why stay here just move believe me you won’t be missed.

You heard wrong, from instigators stirring the pot.

There's a difference between virtue signaling and showing ignorance. You are welcome to do one or the other or neither or both and still support the team of your choice. But, as you have so proudly declared, that team is not the Lady Vols.

Run along now.

Where you been it happens in almost every sport at every college in America and other places as well. No one in this country has to please you or anyone like you yet you act like they do. Why don't you move to China or Russia since you like telling people how to act and what to do. What people do here is called freedom and for those that can't accept it guess you will just have to pout in a corner or on a message board.

Because hating your country is cool..

No. It's just the difference between believing in just "My country right or wrong," vs believing "My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right**".

Folks need to stop assuming the motives of someone else is that they hate the country. If I said that to everyone who criticized the government I'd be calling you and others a country hater quite a lot. You can't bemoan the fall of civil discourse by calling anyone who disagrees with you a godless commie or America hater (not talking about the obvious jokes but when folks are serious about that). People have differing ideas about what's good for the country. I don't know when we forgot that but we have. Now everyone assumes the motive is hate.

**Latter quote comes from US Senator Carl Schurz (a republican senator and considered one of the Senate's greatest orators albeit in 1871).

So other than pissing off a section of people that allow them to play a game and benefit, what exactly are they doing to make the country better? Honestly, I get tired of this argument because it's stupid IMO. What exactly are they accomplishing? Nothing. What exactly has changed since these types of protests began? Nothing. If they really want change, they need to work toward it, not engage in silly protests that haven't really accomplished anything other than to alienate people to their cause. There are far better ways to instigate change, but they involve actual work, which most don't seem inclined to do.

I just feel like if it's not on your time then it shouldn't be done.

My employer doesn't have issue with me at all for having whatever political beliefs I have. They even encourage being involved...but on my time and nothing I say/do should have me using my position with them to validate my political stance.

You're an athlete, and you're on the job before/during/after the game it's a few hours a few times a week. During -that- time you should just do your job.

Yup, after learning this, I’d rather UCONN to win, can’t believe I said that. So disrespectful to still not show respect for the anthem. These so called basketball games, wouldn’t even be possible if it weren’t for those who fought for the freedom and privilege to play college basketball.

Imagine being bothered by something that doesn't affect you whatsoever.
