No. 22 Gamecocks Head to Tennessee
COLUMBIA, SC – No. 22 ranked South Carolina Women’s Soccer (7-1-6, 4-1-2) hits the road for Knoxville, ready to take on Tennessee (7-4-3, 2-3-2) on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on SECN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gamecocks picked up a point at home, taking down Alabama 3-1 highlighted by a brace from rookie Katie Shea Collins. Fifth-year Cat Barry also recorded a hat trick of assists on the night, tying the program record for most in a game. The record was tied for the second time this season after fellow fifth-year Brianna Behm did the same with three handouts in South Carolina’s 4-1 win over the College of Charleston.
Collins recorded her eighth and ninth goal of the season, the second-most on the team behind Barry’s 10. For her efforts, Collins picked up her third SEC Freshman of the Week honor, the most for any freshman in South Carolina women’s soccer history.
SCOUTING THE VOLUNTEERS
Thursday’s meeting with Tennessee will be the 30th in program history. The Vols currently possess a 14-11-4 advantage, but the Gamecocks have won six of the last 10 matchups. The pair of teams last met in Columbia during the 2023 season, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
Tennesse heads into the match coming off of an 0-2 loss against Georgia, despite recording 10 shots with six on target.
