Lady Vols Softball

i just went through all of the comments yesterday and you did not comment. the last time u commented was at the Msst. game and was dogging the team.

Losing a double header to Miss st deserves a little dogging. Tomorrow’s game is a must win for UT. I like Milloy, Ayala and Morgan at the top. Seggern, Shipman and West need to get going to do some damage tomorrow and beyond.

Left to go be an ACE and she is not that....when they use her it's 4 innings or less it seems......It is what it is she didn't want to be here....Tennessee is in the same boat that every school outside of UCLA is in....One true ACE and then hope we can outscore the 2nd pitcher

Arnold isn't good enough to be the ace at a top school. She can be a co-ace type pitcher that she was when she and Moss were here but she's just not the level of an Ashley Rogers, Montana Fouts, G Juarez, etc. I find it humorous that she left because she knew she'd be behind Rogers, and she's still behind someone at FSU, partly because she gives up too many homers just as she did here.

View from seats: Callie just never had it from the get go couldn’t throw a strike and when she had to it got hammered. The coaches seem to give up a little early (although with our secondary pitching not a lot of options). We as the other game hit the ball harder than our run results. Ally is jumping at the ball she needs to be more patient. Morgan drilled the one that the left fielder caught (by her reaction with teammates coming in I’m not sure she knew she caught it). We did rally at least with Chelsea just missing getting it to drop a few times. The last pitcher for Missouri had one of the strangest deliveries you will see. The first base ump shut dow n the running games for both teams, leave a millisecond too soon and he was going to call it. Hopefully Ashley is on again tomorrow.

That’s not the entire reason as why she left. She left for reason outside of depth charts and role.

One point: if I'm an opposing pitcher I pitch low and inside to Seggern all day. She has a real weakness there and consistently swings and misses. Both of her K's came on the exact same pitch: an inside ball at her feet.

Forget the SEC standings a series win over Missouri will help with a higher national seed for regionals.
We don’t have the pitching depth to win the tournament this year anyway. A win tomorrow would be big for seeding though as noted. The funny thing this year I think we a have a much better chance to win a super being 2 of 3 than working through a regional at this point. Who is in our region is going to be big.

There is no way for Tennessee to pass Missouri in the standings even with a win tomorrow.

It's not about passing Mizzou. We lose tomorrow and we fall behind Kentucky and most likely LSU. That also has implications for seeding in the NCAAT.

The bed crapping that took place at Mississippi State really put them in a tough spot in the SEC standings and most likely hurt their seeding in the NCAAT.

Agreed! If they win one game great if they win twice great but honestly I would rather the girls get healthy rather than trying to win the SEC tourney

We didn't play well but State has won I think 7 in a row now and just won the series against UGA....they go for the sweep against UGA on Sunday

To Tennessee's luck, Missouri has the least to play for tomorrow.

Everyone else will want to win. Tennessee wants to finish higher and has seeding to worry about. LSU probably wants to avoid having the same record as Ole Miss, and they have a home crowd to entertain. Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State don't wanna be #12 - and to have to play on Tuesday. Florida has a share of an SEC title at stake. Missouri...... don't see what more they can do to change much..... they'll be a Top 16 seed, but not a Top 8.

Pitching or offense

Pitching or offense
Pitching I'm afraid is what it is beyond Ashley. The offense could get hot but we don't have the majority going at the same time and we don't as a whole have consistent good a bats with Morgan being the exception. Kiki has shown some life and Amanda has looked better as she has gotten more at bats. We hit the ball pretty hard the first two games of this series so hopefully that is a sign of good things to come. "Hope is a good thing"

if the LVs just make it to a super-regional, I will consider the season a big success ----- I always want more, but reality sets in, regardless

BTW does anybody ride one arm on the mound to the WCWS anymore?

Any offense has to be able to produce for the 2-3 pitcher, if they can’t then the issue isn’t in the circle entirely. Teams have to be able to produce runs to take the pressure off the pitcher and be accountable the same.

Must win to keep fifth place which would be against the winner of the play in game last two finishers in the league. Then on to play Missouri. That is about the best path we have so winning today is huge.
