Lady Vols Softball

Tim Walton being coach shouldn’t be any kind of measuring stick. A team’s success has nothing to do with hosting the tournament.

I agree that there shouldn’t be teams hosting twice in the same span when a team like Florida or Georgia (who hosted in 2006 and hadn’t since) hasn’t hosted again in that timespan. WTBS, I’d like to know if Florida hosted prior to that time, because in the last 15 years there have been a number of new stadiums open, and TN (the first time), Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas and SC all hosted the tournament with brand new or very new stadiums and had never hosted before. Plus there have been two schools added to the conference since the time you specified and they have both hosted, including A&M’s new stadium in 2019.

Of course Tim Walton has nothing to do with it. It was a jab at how long it's been.

Chalk it up to whatever you want, but I don't think it's coincidence that, oops, Florida has been passed over.

And Florida has renovated what is a great facility on numerous occasions.

You missed my point, which is programs had never hosted the SEC tournament prior to the time frame you're talking about, mostly because their facilities were not up to par. Tennessee's stadium before Sherri Parker Lee was basically a high school field that basically wasn't even on campus, so I know we never hosted the SECT before 2009. I'm assuming that Florida probably hosted the SECT a few times prior to 2005, given at that time they had one of the better stadiums to host, which may also play into them not hosting as much in current times.

Florida's stadium was renovated between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and prior to that it had fallen to one of the worst stadiums in the conference, mostly because of so many other new stadiums being built around the conference. IDK if that has played into them not hosting or not, but it could. WTBS, it was never any worse than Rhoads in Tuscaloosa, even before the renovation, and they've hosted twice in the last decade.

Florida passed on hosting the last time they came up in the rotation because of their facility. Ask anyone in the administration at Florida and they'll confirm that. Or you can send an email to the softball media contact at the SEC and she'll confirm it as well. I'll be happy to provide you contact info if you DM me.

They were entitled to skip to the front of the line once their new stadium was completed, just like Missouri did three years ago. They were supposed to host this year, but the league kept it with Alabama, who was supposed to host last year. The rotation goes in alphabetical order, unless schools pass on their turn, or open a new facility. Arkansas is scheduled to be next after Florida. Auburn would be after that, but they will likely pass until they build their new facility.

Do not want the #9 seed, that would mean we would have to go through Missouri to get to the WCWS. They have seen Rogers a lot lately and hit her better than other teams.

Rogers had one bad inning against them overall I would take our chances. Plus we hit the ball harder that series than the results show.
