I feel this is a whole lot of the problem. When you watch the ladies, most seem to more or less "nonchalantly" flip up the shot. I like to see a shooter take time to breath, aim and carefully fire up the shot. They seem to do this more "when the chips are down" late in games. It would be interesting to see side by side videos of the ladies taking shots early and late in games. (especially close games)
Your video idea is too good to have not been tried by someone, somewhere.
Since the days when establishing a free throw routine was considered the key to success at the line, we've learned a lot about the intricate workings of the human brain. But nothing I've read/heard in recent neuroscience or cognitive psychology seems to contradict that as still the best approach.
What's being touted in current coaching seminars? Is "loosey-goosey / keep it fun / avoid stress" the approach now, rather than mastering the stress by automating the mechanics? I've no position on this, but it certainly would reflect the zeitgeist.
