Lady Vols vs Pittsburgh in the NCAA Tournament 2nd Round

I wish our fans would stop complaining about the officiating and the announcers. We got more key calls than Pitt down the stretch--including some pretty crucial calls--and shot more free throws. It was a well-officiated game, in fact.

I was at the game and the whole TBA disagrees with you. The refs got booed really bad. Holly even went to the center court on one of them during a timeout.

South Carolina more than 10,000 for each of their games. Louisville over 7,000 I believe.

Don't know what's wrong with those folks living right there in Knoxville.

The box score lists the attendence as 5712 but man I could have sworn there were more than 8000 there. The lower bowl seemed pretty full to me. It was a loud crowd I'll say that.

Oh, and my section had bunches of celebrities. Let's see there was Butch Jones, Glory Johnson, Brittney Griner, and half the LV softball team including the stupendously gorgeous Tory Lewis. Yeah I know I'm drooling.

You must have been sitting close to me. We were right with the softball girls. They were super friendly and invited us to come to a game. You forgot Te'a Cooper. She camo over to see Pat but was sitting across the floor from us.
Got great pictures of Butch, Glory and Brittney too.

Eric Brewton is normally mediocre - which is actually pretty good for women's basketball. But tonight all three were pretty bad. Graves was literally beaten up. First game all season I have seen her get frustrated and it affected her play. That was a weakness of hers last season and I thought she had worked through that. And the perimeter players were hand-checked and bodied all game long. I thought that was a point of emphasis beginning last season?

I may be in the minority but I don't like Reynolds as our starting PG

I agree. Carter seems much more suited for the position, while Reynolds seems to be a better fit at the 2-guard. I haven't understood Holly's reasoning for this all season....

Small crowd again tonight for the game. We have good attendance during the regular season and then fall short when we're hosting NCAA championship games at home. I don't get it.

FYI regular season attendance for this season was the lowest it has been in almost 20 years....

But from recent memory they don't draw well through 1st and 2nd round. Because the tournament falls on spring break, so there's not that many students on campus.

What was the average attendance for this year?

The embarrassing NCAA tournament fan turnout dropped them to an average of 10,375 which is the lowest since the 95-96 season. It's unfortunate, Burdick and Massengale deserved much better in their final home appearance.....

An interesting fact on attendance:

The total, three-game attendance for the 2015 Knoxville Regional was 12,151. That per-game average of 4,050 was the third-highest among first- and second-round sites (South Carolina averaged 10,565; Maryland averaged 7,871).
Postgame Notes: UT 77, Pitt 67 | ChatVols.com

South Carolina's numbers are even down from their season average. I agree the LV turnout was paltry but it still trumped UConn, KY, Oregon St. Duke, USF, Cal-Berkeley, ND, Arizona State, North Carolina, and the remaining first round hosts.

It is a disappointing pattern that the women's tournament is not generating greater fan support.
