LaMarcus Coker suspension

Here is the govolsextra story:

Tennessee tailback LaMarcus Coker was suspended indefinitely by coach Phillip Fulmer on Tuesday.

Fulmer declined to elaborate on specifics regarding Coker’s suspension but he did mention a medical condition.

“He must fulfill some obligations to the program and to me before he can return,” Fulmer read from a prepared statement after practice. “I have tried, as has the administration, to work with him, but at this time he must help himself.”

The sophomore led the Vols with 696 rushing yards his freshman year, even though he was sidelined for two games by an injured knee.

Coker missed five bowl practices in December for disciplinary reasons.

He is competing for time with junior Arian Foster and sophomore Montario Hardesty.

Coker said Monday he’s out of Fulmer’s “doghouse,” after being held out of UT’s final five bowl practices in December and other issues.

“Yeah, yeah I’m definitely out of the doghouse,” he said.

How can he make sure he stays out?

“Go to class, stay out of trouble,” Coker said. “That’s it.”

More details as they develop online and in Wednesday’s News Sentinel.

Geez. The more I think about it, the more extenuating damage comes to mind. Here's to another high-profile black eye for the program under Phillip's watch.

Enjoy the fodder, SEC rivals. We strive to keep you filled.

Well football freak, there goes the H-Back position..

I don't think losing Coker was a huge setback at the H-back position. But someone already said this, but its not like this guy won us any games last year. I think Hardesty is going to see this opp. and run with it, same can be said of Foster or any one of our freaking H-backs. Im not worried in any way!

It's funny how we have had so few mishaps this offseason(compare them to some of our big rivals....it pales) and, yet, 1 slip and Fulmer is back in the spotlight.

Anyone got info on what is going on?

They just said on the radio that Fulmer has suspended him indefinitely.

I wouldn’t normally do this, in fact I consider it very classless (and no disrespect to the integrity of this site) but you have all but called Cal worthless trash not worth a garbage bin. So, in light of these developments regarding Coker

I wouldn't rejoice too much. Coker didn't even see the field against Cal last year and I think did just fine.

I think this is worse than some of you realize. He is our game breaker who is only gonna get better. Bad bad news. He is just ignorant is all i can think of.

None of the troubled kids from the past 5 or so years were the child of CPF....but somehow the heat mounted on him about the state of the program, both within and outside the Vol nation. This one will only serve as a continued reminder to the Tony Barnhardts and Paul Finebaums of the south. Who do you think they will raise questions about?

Hence, another black eye for the program under Fulmer's watch. I did not say I place the blame on him. It is what it is.

It certainly isn't good, but CPF said indefinitely and there is no telling how long or short that will be. It could be 2 weeks of practice. It could be 1 game, 2 games, 3 games, etc.

Not you my friend, you have been nothing but kind and that is something I will never forget as long as I live. I hate being mad at Volnation, but there is no way to separate the larger site from the people who have called Jeff Tedford the MOST overrated coach in HISTORY! It was your vicious friends HatVol and KPT that said such things!

Just think, now Teddyhead can look forward to watching his players get a piggy back ride to the endzone from Hardesty again.

I have to admit, that was a great comeback. I can offer no rebuttal to said comment. It was what it was. Hardesty ran us over because some players failed to wrap up. :banghead2:
