Would agree with this 100%.

However disinformation enables the already disaffected. I'm not playing blame game, there is enough of every side of aisle.

We've got to get back to some sense of normalcy. Everyone has known someone affected by Covid. And I dont mean the actual virus. It's terrible to see once proud person take their own life, or, do something out of fear. (Not talking about the bomber).

Bottom line the message needs to be unification. Just hug your loved ones.

Conspiracy theories are how traumatized minds try to make sense of the world around them. Those who peddle in conspiracy theories most often do so from a need to feel important (which is why disaffected/traumatized people often get caught up) and as if they have access to special insider knowledge they can be the gatekeepers of.

People who have reached the point of needing conspiracy theories to feel important are not generally able to have it explained away; their minds put in place defense mechanisms (the Backfire Effect) that cause them to double down and entrench themselves further. The best thing you can do for them is to love them regardless and gently change the subject when it comes up.

Care must be taken to observe signs of terminal behavior - preparation for violent or illicit acts - such as a rapid ramp-up in paranoid behavior or the sudden cessation of interaction with others combined with changed patterns of movement or schedule.
