The eventual, precise determination of the efficacy of the mask isn’t really the point. Consumer confidence is based more on perception than reality (although there have been studies saying that the mask has some benefit with respect to protecting others from yourself in the event that you’re a carrier)

If you’re one of the ones saying this wasn’t worth shutting down the economy, then refusing to wear a mask is a self-defeating action because it undermines the sense of security that the marketplace is trying to instill by insisting on the mask in the first place.

I said the guy at Costco was being a d!ck and he was, he was just put to prove a point. I'm of the belief if a particular place of business ask you to wear a mask, then do it. If they don't make it mandatory, then don't if you choose.

This, wear a mask and gloves if you feel the need. Do what you need to do to feel comfortable about living your life. This isn't a left wing vs right wing thing, do whats best for you.

I wasnt wearing a mask because of fear, nor did I take it off because of the fear. I was doing it because of the logic presented. I know have logical reasons to not wear a mask.

You are wrong. That was not just a politically partisan interpretation. That is because Sen. Lamar Alexander from Tennessee is a Republican. Sen. Lamar Alexander posted a statement on Twitter which acknowledged that the Democratic Party House Managers had proven their case that President Donald Trump withheld aid to the Ukraine, at least in part, to encourage President Zelensky to open an investigation of Joe Biden. Sen. Alexander also referred to this action by President Donald Trump as being "inappropriate". Sen. Alexander issued this statement as an explanation for why he believed that calling new witnesses during the Senate trial was unnecessary.

Envision a Vinn Diagram with 2 circles:

A: People who said the economy should reopen.
B: People who refuse to wear masks.

People who fall within both circles are hypocrites.

That’s the point.

No it doesn’t . If they wanted it back open AND believed the fear mongering but refused to wear a mask , then they would be hypocrites. If they think this whole thing has been overblown , don’t choose to wear a mask and thinking it should be open , they are not .

Ok. Fine. Not hypocrites.

They want the economy back to pre-COVId levels, cried about it ad nauseam, but now are unwilling to make even the slightest personal sacrifice or endure even a minuscule inconvenience (i.e. wearing a mask) to improve the economy.

Choose your own pejorative for that.

If I thought my immune system was compromised I would wear a mask and probably gloves . I would ask or demand the country be shut down to starve everyone else put just because of my weakness to some virus . Somewhere in here lies the problem with what happened to our country.

I did explain how I look at it . I would never shut down a countries economy and change the lives of millions just because of my weakness . I would protect myself .
