We get 1 N95 and one medical mask per shift, they are not following proper isolation procedures either. This whole thing has been a fiasco. I wonder if gov northam knows all this?So when I hear my fair governor speak about wearing masks in public I laugh. He's a doctor. The effectiveness of medical masks isnt confined to the mask itself. My understanding is that health care professionals change their maks and gloves with each patient and also wash or sanitize their hands in between.
I am willing to bet not even medical professionals are actually following that strict a procedure out in the real world. Of temporary masks that get disposed of, then disposal of gloves, then hand washing, then gloves, then mask again.
The efficacy of masks as they are being used hasnt been tested, and at least NGV, and Kiddiedoc, as well as others, have stated that current practices are probably not helping.
For the last 3 weeks we have had no more than 3 positives on the unit. If you call in sick they are requiring you to come in and be checked for symptoms. Let that sink in for a min. You might have corona but you have to come INTO the hospital so they can check you. Whereas when they presumed me positive they didn't want me at the facility nor would they test me. Makes total sense.
IMO masking with regular medical masks does nothing but protect others from close contact coughing and sneezing. Washing hands is also a must. 99% of transmissions would end if people would wash and stay home when they are sick.
