Ok. Wasn't sure which mass gathering that opposes another mass gathering you meant. I think its silly either way. If somebody is going to condemn a Trump rally don't support a BLM rally and don't condemn a BLM rally if you're going to support a Trump rally.

I am curious why so many people on here say masks are ineffective or even dangerous but they're being handed out at a Trump rally.

I don’t know that’s not my position on it . Mine is if you see me as a threat for not wearing a mask .. stay away from me . Observe the 6ft social distancing from me and there’s no threat .

EMERGENCY POWERS OF GOVERNOR (EXCERPT)
Act 302 of 1945

10.31 Proclamation of state of emergency; promulgation of orders, rules, and regulations; seizure of firearms, ammunition, or other weapons.
Sec. 1.
(1) During times of great public crisis, disaster, rioting, catastrophe, or similar public emergency within the state, or reasonable apprehension of immediate danger of a public emergency of that kind, when public safety is imperiled, either upon application of the mayor of a city, sheriff of a county, or the commissioner of the Michigan state police or upon his or her own volition, the governor may proclaim a state of emergency and designate the area involved. After making the proclamation or declaration, the governor may promulgate reasonable orders, rules, and regulations as he or she considers necessary to protect life and property or to bring the emergency situation within the affected area under control. Those orders, rules, and regulations may include, but are not limited to, providing for the control of traffic, including public and private transportation, within the area or any section of the area; designation of specific zones within the area in which occupancy and use of buildings and ingress and egress of persons and vehicles may be prohibited or regulated; control of places of amusement and assembly and of persons on public streets and thoroughfares; establishment of a curfew; control of the sale, transportation, and use of alcoholic beverages and liquors; and control of the storage, use, and transportation of explosives or inflammable materials or liquids deemed to be dangerous to public safety.
(2) The orders, rules, and regulations promulgated under subsection (1) are effective from the date and in the manner prescribed in the orders, rules, and regulations and shall be made public as provided in the orders, rules, and regulations. The orders, rules, and regulations may be amended, modified, or rescinded, in the manner in which they were promulgated, from time to time by the governor during the pendency of the emergency, but shall cease to be in effect upon declaration by the governor that the emergency no longer exists.
(3) Subsection (1) does not authorize the seizure, taking, or confiscation of lawfully possessed firearms, ammunition, or other weapons.

So who determines what’s reasonable? She’s already overstepped these bounds previously and it appears she is doing so again.

He doesn’t look 80 with a health condition to me. How can that be?

Well if he didn’t have an underlying health problem then he seems to be an Outlier. We have those in every situation you can come up with . Why does an 85 year old get it and survive it when a 40 something doesn’t 🤷‍♂️

Also, I still don’t think any of that allows for her to determine who a business can or can’t serve. She can shut business down but she can’t say you can serve this person but not that one. This doesn’t trump all other freedoms.

If you’re sitting or standing shoulder to shoulder with someone for hours then yes masks can help but passing someone in a store? Not so much.

If that’s your choice it is . If you are being forced to it’s not . Herein lies the problem .
She literally doesn’t understand the issue. Whitmer went even further and is telling businesses they can’t serve people who aren’t wearing masks. That’s not her decision to make, even under her state of emergency power.

That's a perfectly reasonable position. Not trying to be a jerk, but will you also observe social distancing from them? If you see someone in a grocery store wearing a mask will you stay six feet away from them (as long as they aren't standing in the way for ten minutes)?

But this isn’t about wearing masks. You’re confusing the issue. This is about her telling business who they can and can’t serve.

You can't buy alcohol without an ID. You can't get on a plane without an ID. Requiring a mask for service is very much within her emergency powers. Whitmer has a message for you

I like my personal space . I don’t like crowds where I can’t see everyone , and what they are doing . I’m a very aware of my surroundings kind of guy . So that distance has never been a problem for me . If I’m crowed , I’ll be the one taking a step back . I want to see hands and faces . That’s just me .

Those aren’t remotely the same things but this is pointless. You won’t convince me and I won’t convince you. I find it interesting that you don’t seem to think you could rip Whitmer apart on that stance in court though. I thought attorneys could generally argue either side of the coin and this one seems like an easy side to argue.

I remember back in the early corona days when it was, "it only kills old people." Now it's "you gotta die sometime."
I’m more of a personal choice kind of guy..... if I do something that gets me killed then so be it.... it was my choice..... trust me..... I have done much more dangerous things then go outside without a mask on.

Not only does someone have to be within 6 feet of you, they have to stay there at least 10 minutes from everything I’ve heard from the “experts”. How often does that happen in the normal course of life?

The government puts all sorts of preconditions on businesses before they can do business with with people. They tell pharmacies they can't sell you a drug unless you have a prescription. A grocery store can't sell you alcohol unless you have an ID. Gun stores can't sell you a gun without a background check. Moreover, even outside of the emergency powers in play here, states have broad powers to set sanitation requirements at businesses. This. Is. Not. Hard.
