French bus driver dies after brutal attack by passengers who refused to wear face masks

A French bus driver has died after he was savagely beaten by passengers who refused to wear face masks.

Monguillot was hospitalized and declared brain dead after the July 5 attack at a bus stop in Bayonne, in southwest France.

His 18-year-old daughter, Marie Monguillot, told Agence France-Presse that doctors and the family decided it was time “to let him go” and take him off life support.

Monguillot was dragged off his No. 810 bus and violently beaten and kicked in the head after he asked four passengers to wear face masks, the Bayonne prosecutor said. Masks are required on French public transportation because of the coronavirus pandemic.

I don't support seal belt laws, but it can be argued that riding in a vehicle without wearing a seat belt is reckless indifference toward one's own life. A healthy person being in the public without a mask is a danger to neither himself nor any other person.

But Chief District Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson in an unusual ruling has halted the scheduled execution on coronavirus fears. She cited that the families of the victims are too afraid of traveling during the pandemic, as well as the potential risk to elderly family members at the site of the execution given that COVID-19 has especially ravaged prisons and correctional facilities.

So let me get this straight. You have the guy on the hook to be executed. But you decide to push it back and delay it, which opens the door for attorneys to but more time to stop it all together. And the reason given is because you do not want to risk traveling and getting family members infected, as opposed to just doing a facetime/Zoom conferencing of the execution. Is it really that important that you be there in the flesh to look in his eyes as he's executed?

I have Florida friends checking into this craziness. I pulled the raw data from the state website, and the above information is real. Many labs and hospitals (including the two I trained at) are reporting 90-100% positivity rate. One of the outlying hospitals near Fort Myers, Lee Memorial, has reported 405 positive, zero negative.

It takes more than "dishonest people" to have a situation like this. My hope is that it's a really bad computer glitch, where negatives are perhaps being misreported as positives. That should be easy to correct, and then an accurate report can be released.
I hope DeSantis addresses this tomorrow.

I believe it’s an anti death penalty niece from CA that is being referenced as the family member that’s afraid to travel due to CoVid

I would hope a computer glitch that is either failing to report many thousands of negative tests or misreporting negatives as positives. There's no way this would be intentionally altered, as it's too easy to discover.

Why do you think so many people are willing or wanting to be tested in the first place ?

I can't really address that in relation to Florida. I know a lot of people here are asking to be tested due to concern about exposing elderly family members, work guidelines, or decisions to travel or not. Hospitals are testing everyone before procedures/admissions.

Point is: I don't care who, what, when, or why they are being tested, there's absolutely ZERO chance that labs and hospitals are getting a 100% positive rate on this extent of testing. I suspect the reporting is grossly inaccurate for one of the reasons I detailed above. Otherwise, the only explanation is that the testing is extremely faulty.

Back in March when the only people getting tested were people who met criteria almost insuring they have CoVid, we were not seeing 100%
