Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Marti Skold was the chief meteorologist during the March 1993 blizzard. Somebody else that did weather for WBIR was trapped in Gatlinburg. He also did reports for WIVK.

I remember she came on a special WBIR broadcast about 8 pm and said we were about to get pounded. I thought yea....riiiight. Boy, I was wrong. Didnt have power for 12 days. My neighbor burned every stick of furniture he had for heat.

Well, whatever they were people in the United States, particularly the West Coast, were buying them en masse. Idiots like Alex Jones were hawking them big time.
He probably got a kickback of a few points for every bottle that was sold, he knows his audience is probably full of doomsday 'preppers.'

Oh, he absolutely did. I read somewhere that he brings in more money now from the various prepper products he hawks than the radio show.

All I know is the next time I go to a store with a buggy I'm douching the handle down with germ killer before I touch it.

Radiation from Fukushima was a pretty big one too. Those anti-radiation pills were selling out everywhere. I don't think the panic over this is anything like Y2K, at least not yet, but I wouldn't deny the possibility that it could be. The authorities don't seem to have a handle on this yet.

MSM is not pushing this across the top page with updates every half hour. However, this may change if the numbers infected / deceased continue to rise quickly.

My parents are flying from Tampa to Boston next week, they picked up some of those surgical masks to wear for their flight.

I've been wiping off the handle when I grab a cart at the grocery store but then when I check out they put all of my **** in a different cart.

Been doing this for a few years. Office I work in has made me a little germophobic. In wintertime I'll keep a travel pack in my pocket in case the store doesn't have them handy.

This is probably a dumb question but can this virus survive on shipped goods? I would hope and think not.
If it has a dormancy state it could very well survive an ocean. Usually the most virulent of viruses have some way to survive. That's why with some rooms we use ultraviolet light to disinfect them.

81 deaths out of 2,827 reported cases would mean a 3% mortality rate…

For comparison, seasonal flu typically has a mortality rate below 1% and causes about 400,000 deaths each year globally. SARS had a death rate of more than 10%.”
