Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

That doesn't square with keeping the more at-risk people separated.
Treat it like we treat the seasonal flu and move on. We’ve tried the liberals way of close it all down and everyone wear a hazmat suit. If we believe the numbers, which I don’t, then at some point we have to get back to normal. 5 months of slogans and idiotic policies have done enough damage. Open the f up

He left a lot of the decision making up to state and local leaders. Trump gets 50% of the blame, but others share it with him as well.
Then that needed to be effectively communicated. He didn't seem to understand what was fed vs state for far too long. He was a very poor leader through all this and it's mostly his fault

Seems like it's bound to happen. Hopefully there are plans to contain it, when it happens.
I'm curious to see whatt happens. Schools around where I live pushed back the in person classes 2 weeks. However a lot have had cases in sports and shut those practices down for a bit and allowed others to continue, as well as some week 0 football games canceled. One county said no football until kids return to in person classes so we will see what happens there.

How are they doing case wise and have they told you all of a plan if an outbreak happens?
Well they were in summer camp since late March with zero issues (about 70 kids total). Only one camp in the county had a positive and that was because the HS sports physical required a covid test and one counselor tested positive (no symptoms).

As for a plan, we really haven't seen one yet. We're the first school back so we may be test subjects

"The liberal way"? What an imagination you have.

Imo I dont think kids should be tested unless they show symptoms, but at some point there will be a spike, and im just waiting for the inevitable school shut down that I expect to follow.

Me too but we are in a group of 3 charter schools that refused to go along with the county and delay for 2 additional weeks. I know of another private school starting Monday so we're not alone. They need to power thru it

Thats fair, I like the guy, but I will admit he made mistakes throughout his. However, I feel like he should also get credit fro what he did right, Shutting down travel from china, cutting red tape for a vaccine, the first stimulus package to assist Americans... etc.
Even if he did better though how well would his message have been received? There are some that he could say exactly what they wanted to hear and they would reject it because it came from him.

I’m not the one believing we have a quarter of the world’s deaths. It’s pretty amazing the epicenter of this virus has less than 90k cases and less than 5k deaths. A country of 1.4B is reporting less new cases per day than Hamilton County. Truly a triumph.

Again, I don’t vote for any representatives in China, I don’t work in China, and I don’t have any relatives to who have died in China.

I dont know. But I do know that tanking our economy, which includes health care, so that we have no way to address that second disease is not a good idea.

I know that making us more dependent on the government, which as you noted has failed us, is also not a long term winning strategy.

The total of the world is pretty meaningless as you are looking at it. What's our total number of Covid sick compared to the world? We have just under 5 million Covid infections, world total is 19 million. Which is 26% of total infected.

So 23% of the deaths is better than average seeing as how we have a higher number of infected cases. us covid infections vs world - Google Search

Not sure if that link takes you right to the chart, but Google has it own page for this.

So having way more infections and a slightly lower mortality rate is a win?

The rest of the world wants a vaccine too, but they haven’t done as bad as we have. Again, we are the worst in the world, what would you suggest to improve upon that?
There's countries that have had less stringent lockdown doing better than us, and there are many countries not wearing masks doing better than us. Maybe this is a better question for you to answer than anyone else.

My answer would be that maybe daddy government and a bunch of half witted policies on businesses and masks aren't nearly the top contributing factor to what decides how hard the virus hits any particular area.

He reminded everyone every single night about the air travel. Eventually you need a new idea. The stimulus package was a payoff to corps and not even close to enough when where it was needed. It likely did more harm than good

I've already explained it a number of times for you.

50-70% cross-protection/prior immunity + c. 20% infection rate = herd immunity threshold
I hope you're right with these numbers. It would be huge if 50 - 70% were already protected to a certain extent.

I would like to see this information about these other countries and how their population density, travel, etc. compare to ours.

Even if that is all true and we truly have similar, comparable examples doing better then what factors separate them from us? There, somewhere, would lie your answers.
