Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Not a coincidence that the current decline in testing is resulting in a decline in cases. Sort of foolish for some to hold up fewer cases, alone, as an indicator of the things improving.
I hope nobody is doing that. That would be dumb. More testing will find more cases. Less testing will find fewer cases. These guys are trying to say we are worse off in the US because we show a higher percentage of cases to our population, The only way to make that comparison is for all countries to do the same per capita testing as we do. It's just basic statistics 101 from our freshman year in college.

Truncated to eliminate strawmen and other nonsense:

I went and found the actual numbers for swedens and its neighbors. As expected it was worse in deaths, better in economy. Not sure how that can be considered talking out of my but when I backed it up with numbers.

And i love that you assume i dont lift a finger.
Under our existing system, the government is not precluded from this type of regulation.

Therefore, it is a prudential/political question.

It is therefore subject to a cost/benefits analysis or whatever other form of prudential analysis you prefer.

That’s just reality.

The Swedish figures that supported your argument so well that you immediately equivocated about them are line items in that analysis. The “source of the loss“ is a line item.

What does it say about your faith in your own proposal that when asked to consider items on the other side of the ledger, you fly off the handle and start making arguments about fictitious government limitations that have never been present in the constitution?

What does it say that when confronted with their absence from the constitution you make some pithy comment about the government granting itself rights?

To me, it says you don’t even believe your own proposal would pass muster under a prudential analysis. Maybe that doesn’t mean you don’t want to lift a finger, but that’s the only answer I can come up with for someone who has to resort to fantasyland nonsense to justify a proposal that would kill thousands.

Odd for him to go against the grain of the DEM party or are they starting to pivot and see that Trump was right?

These big urban cities that are locked down are being crushed from lack of funds . It was all fun and games in the beginning with cute tweets from the likes of AOC talking about destroying the system . Now ( IMO ) they are starting to see how ugly it’s about to get and it not looking like so much fun anymore . ( again just my opinion )

Sooner rather than later these Dems leaders are going have that little light bulb go off above their heads that says in quotes... “ holy hell if we do win the oval and maybe take the senate , we will own all three branches with a crashed and broken economy “ . Whoever is in charge come Jan of 2021 is going to have to take a big ole bite of sh!t pie and there’s no way around it . It will either be deeper in debt or deeper in debt with higher taxes . The 2024 elections will be interesting indeed .
The economy is already largely broken I think. As long as it visibly breaks and the stock market falls before Trump leaves office they don’t care. Then they’ll just blame him for every bad decision they make over the next four years. More debt. More govt intrusion.

What they don’t want is the country to see a crash after Biden takes office. They don’t want a high stock market that can visibly plummet after Trump leaves or it tanks in November after the election if Biden wins. Basically the opposite of what happened immediately after the 2016 election.

Freed from jail amid coronavirus, VA rape suspect kills accuser: report

A Virginia rape suspect, who was released from jail because of concerns regarding the new coronavirus, went on to kill the woman who had accused him, according to police.

The Washington Post was first to report that Ibrahim E. Bouaichi shot and killed the woman in late July, after he was released April 9, according to the newspaper and Alexandria police.

Bouaichi was indicted last year on charges that included rape, strangulation and abduction. The woman, whom police identified as Karla Elizabeth Dominguez Gonzalez, testified against him in Alexandria District Court in December.

He was jailed without bond in Alexandria – until the pandemic hit. Bouaichi’s lawyers argued that he should be freed awaiting trial because the virus endangered inmates and their attorneys. He was released on a $25,000 bond over the objections of a prosecutor.

Circuit Court Judge Nolan Dawkins released Bouaichi on the condition that he only leave his Maryland home to meet with his lawyers or pretrial services officials.

He is accused of killing Gonzalez on July 29.

Authorities said Wednesday that federal marshals and Alexandria police spotted and pursued Bouaichi in Prince George’s County, where he crashed his vehicle and apparently shot himself. As of Thursday, he was in grave condition.

So having way more infections and a slightly lower mortality rate is a win?
Way more infections because we have done way more tests.

Second in the world. Only behind china, more than the EU combined.

Do I have to go find the numbers again?

I heard Rush Limbaugh today say that he thinks it’s a ploy. They’ll open up the schools, kids will get sick and then they can shut everything down again and say “see? We tried.”

The government can give itself the power ergo it is right to use the power. Again with the circular argument.

Lives are on both sides of this ledger. A fact you still have yet to even acknowledge. 150k dead, 5 million infected, 15 million without jobs.

That 15 is going to have a long long impact on this country. Far worse than the 150 or 5.

Build Back Better, bro

I do but you seem to not be able to grab the concept of more testing leads to more known cases which is not done in the other countries you try and compare us to. It's really that simple.

% of population/% of deaths is the most relative statistic you’ll see, and ours is bad.

Do I have to go find the numbers again?

So why do we have a much higher % of deaths to population? Is that because we test more too? Please explain

Oh yeah? How so?

I mean, is in inaccurate because Trump is lying that there will be a vaccine prior to the election?

OR

Is it inaccurate because Trump is lying that he will pressure vaccine makers to rush the process?

In either case, of course, Trump is still a liar.

You're quick to put the President into a corner and call him a liar. There's no lying here because it's a guess on his part. It's like calling your weatherman a liar if he predicted rain yesterday and it was dry at your house. I don't understand people like you. Who would call the weatherman a liar?

The rest of the world wants a vaccine too, but they haven’t done as bad as we have. Again, we are the worst in the world, what would you suggest to improve upon that?

I disagree that we're worst in the world. By what metric are you using?
