Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

the Trump comments came after the FDA panel recommended approval and it was awaiting one final (and inevitable) action by the FDA. he was wrong to interject but it was meaningless. that doesn't change a thing about all the steps taken to facilitate a truly historic medical development.

your reaction is to fantasize about the vaccine killing people so you can see if people will blame Trump.

So, the comments the public saw don't indicate the liklihood of pressure that we didn't see?

Not hoping for it, just wondering how many would be willing to point out it was premature, and Trump should've left it to those with the responsibility.

If nothing else, Trump's threats and pressure add fuel to the anti-vaccers fire.

Guess he bullied the UK into approving it too eh? Your premise that he pressured the FDA into approving something they wouldn't approve otherwise is pure speculation and insulting to the reviewers at the FDA.

Can you at least admit that actions by his administration (those I listed) were important in getting this vaccine to deployment?

I'll also add on this comment that you should save some of this blame for Democratic leadership who repeatedly questioned any vaccine approved while Trump was still POTUS.

Both parties politicized the hell out of this (and the pandemic). No one is clean.

Never stated otherwise. I guess the administration deserves credit for what appears to be a sensible approach. One that leaves it to the experts.

Those who framed their vaccine doubts the way you stated, I'd say that would definitely do the same to sow doubts.

if the experts recommended liability shields, a massively streamlined drug approval process and guaranteed purchase orders in addition to distribution assistance then it was the sensible approach. without those things, no vaccine is ready for distribution.

they did some things right and somethings wrong overall but this one definitely falls in the did it right bucket.

Never let a crisis go to waste

Biden, Harris, Pelosi and Schumer all questioned the safety of a vaccine approved during the Trump administration.

85% of the population most opposed to getting vaccinated for Covid (African American) voted Democrat. The above 4 screwed their most loyal constituency (again).
Lol hadn’t seen that metric but nothing shocks me really anymore I guess

I'm not saying 85% are against the vaccine; it's the percentage that voted D.

That said, trust of the vaccine among AA is lower than any other group.
I caught the drift. Honestly I’m not that thrilled about the possibility of long term affects either but I don’t have to sweat it right now since I’m pretty far down the priority list. That doesn’t mean I don’t trust it, I’m sure this vaccine(s) has been wrung out to the best extent possible as it’s going world wide on its debut.

Pfizer got no federal money to research or develop the vaccine. The federal funds they're getting are for distribution. Trump helped getting it delivered, not developed.

You're splittin' hairs but OK. When we see trucks carrying the Moderna vaccine next week and others after that, can you join us in thanking Pres Trump since they did meet your standard described here? They did accept federal money to research and develop their vaccines

Don’t hold your breath. He’ll still kvetch about Trump’s alleged strong arming of the FDA.

That's a weak argument on his part seeing as this was approved by Britain and Canada before the USA. If anything he should be arguing that Trump didn't strong arm them enough

And the Moderna one is going to be much easier to distribute...you have to have a special freezer for the Pfizer one...President Trump did the right thing by insuring we would have doses no matter who was successful in getting their vaccine approved and we will have plenty of doses available

Absolutely. Arguably it was his greatest accomplishment. It'll end up saving countless lives. Anyone who criticizes him on this one is nothing more than an irrational Trump hater and anything they say further should be discounted as nonsense.
