Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

or Twitter...
I know a lot of people have criticized some of the stuff I have posted from TikTok. There is a lot of crap. But lately it’s become like Patriot central and growing like crazy. It’s actually disturbing and scary.

Vaccinations.
Except the Delta variant is escaping vaccinations as evidenced by the MA report and the CDC’s new guidance of masks is predicated on this. The state can’t mandate health decisions for individuals so that’s not on DeSantis; as the left is trying to lay blame.

This actually is a good question. I'm assuming they have some way to tell with current testing?

"To put it simply: not always. While the Delta variant (otherwise known as B.1.617.2) may be the pathogenic offspring of the novel coronavirus, it carries distinctive biological markers that some among the dozens of commercially available COVID tests from academic institutes and medical giants may not be able to sense.

Testing for the Delta variant usually has to be done on a more precise level involving polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing platforms, which tend to be more accurate and sensitive to genetic variations within the coronavirus. But that level of testing also takes more time than a rapid response test which may return results within a half-hour but miss out on some of the biological details. "

How can you get tested for the Delta variant?

This is a month old. I would imagine there's some sampling and extrapolation going on to make broader generalizations about what % of infections are which variant. Alternatively, they may only be reporting variant cases from testing that identifies variants and a more accurate statement would be "of those tests, "x" % are Delta.

we do not know what extent it is vaccine resistant and breakthrough cases are still a small fraction of cases. given 1/2 the population is vaccinated and the breakthroughs are still small indicates the vaccine is still the best route

The media can't seem to figure out which button to push - the vaccine works and everybody should get it, or Delta is a death sentence and we need to lockdown again. Tap dancing between the two is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.
And the common man is too stupid (or too intellectually lazy) to pick up on the two step. The mutation is driven by mass vaccination so quickly according to researchers, the CNN headline tells us, then in the same breath they tell us to wear masks until all are vaccinated and we need to do it quickly. How can any sane person read that and say “yep that makes sense”.

You are missing the point with DeSantis. He is preempting the ability of local officials to make decisions on masks in schools to appeal to the GOP voters in a couple of years, which will work but which is truly ironic when you think about it because the GOP has long stood against the feds telling the states what to do, but seems to embrace having the state tell locals what to do as long as its a Republican governor at the helm.

Dem politicians are pushing masks to appeal to dem voters so what's the difference?

And we also know that 1 unvaccinated person in the MA case was hospitalized vs. 4 vaccinated. It’s also known that the US reports unvaccinated as anyone not 2 weeks removed from the 2nd shot. We’re one of the only, if not the only, countries lumping partially vaccinated individuals in with unvaccinated in terms of cases, hospitalizations and death. Most are clarifying as unvaccinated, vaccinated and unvaccinated.

If I as an unvaccinated individual unknowingly infect another unvaccinated individual and get them deathly sick am I supposed to feel bad about my actions? There’s an unspoken communication of the level of risk and potential consequences that we’ve both agreed to. I’m willing to bet a handsome penny that I won’t die if I contract it and if I wind up sick and in bed for a few days then so what, I got sick; just like strep, flu or any of the other innumerable things that makes one sick.

If the vaccines work, then a fully vaccinated person should have no qualms with how I handle my personal health and I am of no impact to them. If said person is still scared/paranoid/concerned about themselves in that scenario then they’re subconsciously admitting they’re unsure of the ultimate efficacy and level of protection the vaccines provide.

If you want to wear a mask, want your kids to wear a mask, a teacher wants to wear a mask, a business wants to enforce masks then so be it. There is no preemption against voluntarily doing it. Again, if the masks work and Susie wears hers to school then Susie’s parents don’t have to worry about Johnny not wearing his; both are theoretically safe from the other. Why does there have to be a mandate? That’s the point and the only point. Make your own damn decisions and not rely on persons no different than you or I, except their elected status, to tell you what to do. Biden, DeSantis, the local county commissioner know no more about Covid than I do.

The overwhelming weight of science and common sense supports the Dems.

Defiance, resentment, and intentional disregard of the science defines the GOP at this point.

The problem with that is the politicization the Dems do with it. For instance, if somebody asks Fauci publicly if wearing two masks offer better protection than one, of course he will say yes. Just like 3-4-5 is even better than 2. But the context of if it is needed is lost with the question.

A mandate to mask up for everybody including vaxed and have possibly another lockdown absolutely will stop the spread again. Science says so. But what science isn't doing is determining if it is really needed.

I think there is more lean towards the science with the left, while the right leans more toward common sense. I don't think either side has a monopoly on both.

So it’s science that says a man can birth a child? It’s science that says the penis between my legs doesn’t actually determine my sex? It’s science that says I should be able to breast feed my infant as a male? I need to be on the lookout because the next time I sneeze or take a s**t an 8lbs. human may come out unexpectedly.
