Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

For all the drama queens on the board... ^ ....this is how you post anecdotal evidence. Multiple doctors seeing multiple patients over a year and a half period. It isn't scientific, but its a good data point. It's borderline not even anecdotal.

If somebody posts a story about a single 13 year old dying from COVID, that does not mean I have to worry about my 13 year old dying. If a doctor says there are a bunch of his 13 year old patients dying over a 18 month period, then I might worry.
Clearly you have been snowed by kiddiedoc’s fake doctor routine. Even if he is a real doc there’s no way I would listen to him or to common sense over a trusted official like Fauci. Long live the Fauc!

REPORT: 20 Percent of Migrant Children Test Positive for COVID After Release by Border Patrol

A leaked presidential briefing document reported on by NBC News revealed that 20 percent of unaccompanied migrant children who illegally crossed the border are testing positive for COVID-19 after being released into communities by Border Patrol. The report covers the last two to three weeks of data prepared for President Joe Biden, NBC says.

A presidential briefing document reported by NBC News also states that 18 percent of migrant families are testing positive for the pandemic virus after they are released by Border Patrol officials into border communities. President Biden is expected to receive the briefing on Thursday.

The report also says that the infection rate of migrant families is impacting the Biden administration’s efforts to deport migrant families under recently reenacted expedited removal processes. Some of the ICE deportation flights had a 25 percent COVID-positive rate among the migrant families scheduled for removal, NBC stated. Those families were removed from the flights for quarantine.

“Migrants are not tested for Covid in Border Patrol custody unless they show symptoms, but all are tested when they leave Border Patrol custody, according to DHS officials,” NBC reported. “Immigrants who are allowed to stay in the U.S. to claim asylum are given tests when they are transferred to ICE, Health and Human Services or non-governmental organizations.”

On Saturday, Breitbart Texas’ Randy Clark reported images from McAllen, Texas, hotels and motels that are serving as shelter overflows for Catholic Charities operations in that region of the Texas border with Mexico. The photos show healthcare workers going room to room to check the health status of migrants recently released from Border Patrol’s custody.

They’ve gone from "COVID is a hoax" to "it might be real, but it’s not that dangerous" to "let’s blame it on immigrants"

Had a talk with my boss about my vaccination status. They are pushing again and wanted to go over my reasoning. I said my two biggest items were.

1. Full FDA approval, they are getting close.
2. Removal of the liability protection. To me they shouldnt be protected after they get FDA for anything produced after full FDA approval.

Our CEO is asking supervisors to sit down with their unvaxed employees and listen to our concerns as well, with the instruction of walking us through our hesitancy and encouraging us to get it done. Mine has nothing to do with the efficacy or safety of the vaccine (I’m not worried about either); in my personal opinion it’s a slippery slope of what potentially can and can’t be mandated for conditions of employment down the road. I’ve steadfastly informed my supervisor, as well as my wife, that I would in all likelihood resign if a mandate came down.

I hope the Governor sticks to his threats. The less useless school board members and management the better. They are overpaid and a drain on the education budget. Kick them all out and don’t replace them.

I'm still scratching my head over the idea of paid school boards. It's not something I'm familiar with at all.

Masking children? Likely closer to zero than your number of choice

But the fact remains that other illnesses more dangerous to kids didn't illicit the same response and overreaction

You guys continue to look at this like safety helmets, where the only reason you put them on is to protect the person wearing the helmet.

We've seen it time and time again. Trump says he recommends getting the vaccine, followed immediately by minimizing that with a comment about honoring personal freedoms.

Tucker et al at Fox tell viewers to get the vaccine. But constantly run stories and commentary suggesting not so subtly that it is not really needed.

DeSantis decries Fauci and CDC guidance.

All of this to minimize the worthiness of the vaccine and appeal to a political base that longs for proof science is bad.

But here's the problem. Vaccination stalls. We stay below herd immunity as a result. And so mutations have time to spring up. Time to spread. And the vaccine slowly loses what might well have been knock out power.

The window to gain victory is not forever because of the mutations. The more people and the longer the period of time of unvaccinated status we have, the greater the risk.

And then when the vaccine is not as effective due to the irresponsibility of the deniers or minimizers or excuse defenders, the harder it is to get people vaccinated. And we end up with even more mutations, and so on.

People who have gone out there and IN ANY WAY hinted, suggested, or supported people not getting vaccinated are causing deaths. And they are just making it worse each cycle we deal with this.

Seat belts, helmets, pants. . . WTF is the deal with resorting to completely nonrepresentative analogies? It's actually very easy to read publications from the past 20 years or so on viral transmission/masks, and it's even easier to look at data over the past 18 months in areas and schools that did and did not employ the use of masks.

Just not a lot of practice fretting over a virus that kills less than 300 kids per year and trying to combat it with an experimental vaccine.
