Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

If more people were vaccinated, the Delta variant, regardless of where it came from, would do far less damage within our own borders. But you don’t seem to get this.
The Delta variant is believed to have arrived in the US around May. On May 1st the 7 day average for deaths was 681, on August 15th the 7 day average for deaths was 601. Deaths have flatlined at worst with the Delta variant. Deaths are 1/5th of what they were in January and 2/3rd of what they were in March. 7 day average for cases is 2.5x today what it was on May 1, yet our deaths are flatlined to down. Tell me again about the damage Delta is doing within our borders.

There's a smell with them, alright. They tick all the boxes to appeal to a very specific crowd.
Yes, the common sense crowd. Doesn't take a genius to know that a virus with a size of .001 to .003 microns isn't going to be blocked by a cloth mask with gaps all around and a mesh density 10X+ that size. The CDC even states that masks are useless for filtering smoke molecules. A smoke molecule is orders of magnitude larger than a virus (forget the exact range). Then the argument becomes that the masks catch fluid droplets. That fails too when you consider the fluid mechanics involved. What happens if you have a laminar flow fluid at a given velocity that is introduced to a mesh screen? You get a turbulent boundary layer on the downstream side. I've seen analyses that conclude the masks cause the virus to aerosolize when people cough or sneeze into them. So, perhaps they are actually making things worse. I know they are from a CO2 intake and potential bacterial pneumonia standpoint. No thanks. I'm going to breath fresh air, not my own exhaust. If others want to play the sheep, go for it! It's a (partially) free country.

I'm sure all of this has been discussed adnauseam so I'll get off my soapbox. To each his own.

“We know from overseas cases of the Delta variant that it can be spread by people simply walking past one another," said Adren at a press conference.

Does anyone have a link to this information stated by the NZ PM?

This is further proof that the vaccine works. More vaccinations = less fatalities.

It's also worth noting that the 7 day avg death rate had fallen to below 200 in early July so there is clearly a spike occurring right now in deaths
