Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

From what I read, all of those that succumbed to the virus were 60 or older and had previous health issues, until yesterday. A man in his mid 30's with no previous health concerns fell victim to the virus.

I read another article as well that was comparing the two outbreaks, one person thought the governments response was quicker compared to the 2003 outbreak and another one thought the response time was delayed and slow moving. Both sources appeared to be close to ground zero so there are two different points of view.
From his petspective not sanitizing ground zero for the first case was harmful. He went to the market and it was business as usual in late December early January. No masks, no cleaning.
Of course different people only have a small perspective on this. Put it all together i think it was slow. Hospitals are turning away people who die later from it. One pt said they told her to go buy medicine and go home. Come back if it gets worse. They just aren't prepared for this. You'd think after bird flu and SARS they would have a planned response.
The WHO still hasn't classified it as pandemic. It's still no where near that.

And my co-workers think I'm weird for wiping down my workspace and complaining when people come in to work sick.
I do the same. But i wear a mask all the time, and wash my hands 100 times a night. I work around petri dish humans who are positive for 3 to 4 bacteria at a time so that's normal for me.
Charge sent an employee home last week, fever, cruopy cough. Said don't come back till you get well. I'm all for that.

Yea I'm just in an office environment now. Nothing medical related. Having been here for 10 years has made me slightly germophobic after witnessing inconsiderate/unhygienic behavior.

Guy came into work a couple weeks ago after having a fever/pain/chills all night. I asked wtf are you doing here. He just didn't want to call in sick. I told him I don't care about that your going to get people sick. Around lunchtime he then took orders and made a food run for 17 people (that didn't know he was sick). But he said since he didn't touch their food "it was ok."

Couple of updates before I leave:

Videos are showing armed PLA soldiers in protective gear in Wuhan
China is rumored to be cutting the internet there soon.

And

So the temperature checks at airports may not be catching sick people at all.

Sounds like the “ Umbrella Corperation” needs to do a better job at their check points , before this thing destroys Raccoon city .

Reactions: TrumpedUpVol
Just read an article from the man who identified SARS and bird flu in China. He feels the reaction to this has been incredibly slow and under reported since cases of deaths have been verified back in early December from this corona. No one consulted the expert.
Jan 25 to Feb 8th is their new year. So travel has been highly interrupted. It's now outside mainland China.
Two cases now confirmed here. There have been many more exposed I'm sure, let's see how well we can contain it.

Our hospital will go on protocol. All visitors will have masks. Worse case scenario, no visitors.
They have reported also that a few people have been put on ecmo, last ditch effort to oxygen the blood after organ failue in China. They have several serious cases reported. Seems to be hitting the elderly the worst, as would be expected. No pneumonia shot covers this.

So in other words, if your immune system is fragile when you contract the virus, more than likely you're screwed?

Yup, if you have other co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, copd the mortality rate increases greatly.
People in immunosupressibe therapy will be hit hard.
