Lattimore retiring

Fans on Cockytalk still saying it was a purposeful, dirty hit.

I hated it then and hate it as much now for him.

Unfortunately the better the player the more concentrated on how you tackle. If he went down easy usually then just wrap up. However Lattimore constantly broke those so EG24 made the textbook tackle as unfortunate as it was.

I hope he goes back to school and gets a degree. He was a special talent, it's a damn shame that he couldn't make it in the NFL.

You do know that typically universities let these guys back in and put then on a non athletic scholarship?

Yes, I do.

But just like adults, it is a lot harder to go back to school and finish after you've been out.

Hope he does. But just making a point that's all.

Per ESPN, if he retires he has a $1.7 million permanent total disability insurance policy that he will most likely collect. Said he purchased it his junior year, costing $10-15k.

I went back after being out of high school for 12 years. My daughter was 1 and yes it sucked, but if you want it you'll find a way to make it work. I had a full-time job and went to night school. If I wasn't in school, I worked around the house, played with my daughter, and then started homework after she went to sleep.

I wish there was a way for this type of kid in this situation to sue the NFL for not allowing him to come out early.
And in my opinion, a nickel db is going to come in low on Lattimore because if you are coming in high, you are getting carried or thrown. 2nd, it wasn't as much the hit, as it was that Lattimore had somebody riding on his back that had just jumped on him just as Gordon was starting to go low. That put maybe 2x the weight on Lattimore's legs and plant foot and he couldn't, what some call, "dead leg" it because his foot was stuck in the ground with the added weight. Rb's get hit low all the time. They can often deflect or get their foot off the ground in an instant to prevent injury.
