LB Beasley Under Investigation

I worked with a guy who farmed, raised cattle, chickens and the like. He was of the nicest, down to earth, hardest working, just plain good folk I've ever known. He did the same exact thing to feral cats that that multiplied like rabbits and killed his chickens. His opinion was it was a hell of lot more humane that what a lot assholes do to animals. He was definitely not a "scumbag" as you put it..
I don't care if he was the Pope. Drowning cats is not humane. Period.

Well, it doesn't take a heavy-weight genius to know what happens when a young kitten is brought into an apartment.
Sounds like you know what you're talking about there bub?

Definitely better than being beaten to death, shot and wounded or one of the many other forms of torture that really sick ****s use...

Putting live cats in a bag with rocks and drowning them makes you a sick f***. You can try to compare it to other forms of torture all you want, doesn’t change that fact.

It’s sadistic no matter how you or the farmer tries to justify it. The humane society neuters farm cats and they can be placed back on the farm to keep the rodent population down. Win/Win situation for everyone. Or he can take them to the county animal shelter or no kill shelters and at least some of them can be adopted.
I have in the last four years been involved in about three litters of feral cats and every single one of them was adopted. 15 cats total.

Excerpts from David Ubben's article in The Athletic tonight:

"Kaylee Scarbrough, a student, arrived at her apartment Thursday morning and discovered Nugget, her gray domestic shorthair cat, hiding underneath her dresser. Scarbrough said he squealed and clawed at her when she tried to pull him out of the space.
When she tried to put him down, she noticed his back legs wouldn’t support him and he was unable to walk.
“And that’s when my roommate Kinley (Bunting) walked up to me and was like, ‘Hey, I just remembered,’” Scarbrough told The Athletic. “She said that she was in her bed around like 10ish or 11ish. And all she said she heard was my other roommate screaming, ‘No, Aaron, please. You can’t do that. No, Aaron, please.’ And then she started crying and then she heard my cat Nugget squeal like three times. A loud squeal, loud enough for her to hear in her room from the living room.”
Bunting told police she heard Zoe Phillips, saying “you can’t do that” and crying, according to the report...

...
Scarbrough brought Nugget to Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in west Knoxville. Veterinarians determined that Nugget had a hemorrhage on his left kidney, a blood clot in his bladder and a broken tail. He was in the ICU until Saturday, when he was released back into Scarbrough’s care.
“The vet stated in the records that the clots in his bladder and kidney could not occur unless there was blunt force trauma,” Scarbrough said.
After returning home from the veterinarian’s office, Scarbrough notified police."

Ubben also published texts from the roommate to the kitten owner:

Dang you guys. I'm running out of popcorn.

Too much drama with this team/school this year and the last.

How is this derailed train still sliding out of control??

What's going on??!

Worked with this man for 7 years and can assure you he is the farthest thing from a "sick f***' imaginable. I can say without hesitation, I would trust him with my kids.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion though, even when it's wrong.

According to SI, Nugget was released from ICU on Saturday.

According to 247, girlfriend says Beasley didn’t do what is alleged, just locked the cat in the bathroom because it was being a pest.

Yeah, the girlfriend (Zoe)'s texts contradict her story to police though .

Kicked off the team for cruelty to a cat? Good grief. My dad shot dogs for getting in trash cans. Big deal.
If (notice I said IF, I'm not condemning the guy, we need to let the investigation play out) these allegations are proven to be true, then yes, absolutely, as well as criminal prosecution for animal cruelty.

You're sure quick to judge. Typical mob mentality...The guy was the farthest thing from sadistic. You act like he enjoyed doing this.. We're not talking about cute, cuddly, kittens or puppies here. We're talking about full grown, meaner than hell feral cats that kill his chickens or occasionally full grown dogs that run his cattle to death. Not to meantion the danger they posed to his children. I'm not going to fault the man for taking care of his property and family as quickly and efficiently as he could.

If he drowns kittens he is sadistic and unethical. I don’t care what his outward demeanor was.

The original post was about drowning kittens which you stated your acquaintance also did. Now you are stating they are full grown cats. Is your acquaintance catching full grown cats and drowning them or disposing of them by other means?
