I have always been one of CPF's biggest fans, but the ship is sinking and I honestly believe that the only way to gain new momentum is a coaching change.

meyer landed a no. 1 recruiting last season, and appears to have a good start on next years class. Richt lands a perenial top 5 class, both of them are loaded with talent at home.

Anyone who doesn't think that spells trouble for Fulmer needs to pull their head out of the sand. Fulmer has had trouble winning with top 10 classes that had lots of depth the last few years. I seriously doubt, he is going to win with recruiting classes ranked 20-25, and that have little depth.

I suspect our recruiting classes are going to be on par with SC and Ark, teams we will continue to struggle to beat.

Our recruiting sucked last year because our team sucked. Is it any surprise that our pre-season recruiting is going to go pretty much the same as last year. That's the way things go with kids (and adults)memories getting shorter and shorter each year. We're not going to improve our recruiting until we improve on the field, so I don't understand why people would get worked up at this point. Start the season strong and we can get some of these kids to flip and get a lot more of the ones that haven't decided. Start off poorly and the sky really will be falling.

On the money.

recruiting=hype.

So its merely coincidence that the same teams with top 5 recruiting classes are typically in the top 5 in the rankings year after year?

In the last 2 decades, there has never been a team that won the SEC that didnt have a top 20 recruiting class.

The most valid comparison would be to look at the final standings and measure them against the recruiting rankings from 3 and 4 years prior. That will show you how much correlation there is between on field success and recruiting rankings.

The biggest shocker: Having good recruiting classes in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005; being ranked #3 in the preseason last year, and going 5-6.

That has to spell something.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. It's pretty simple. Georgia and Florida have the best talent bases in the SEC and every SEC team recruits their base first. Florida has always recruited well. And just look at it objectively and not from a biased point of view:

Georgia- SEC champs Georgia talent base
Florida- Wins over SEC and ACC champs Florida talent base
UT- loss to Vandy close wins over UAB and Memphis Tennessee talent base

You can't expect us to come flying out the gates. Right now we have a lot of big name players looking at us. Eric Berry,Marvin Austin, Lennon Creer, John Clay, Ben Martin just to name a few. Kids like Harrison Smith, Chris Donald, and Will Blackwell have all been quoted as saying they want to see how we bounce back from last season. If we have a good or great season we will see some of these elite players commit to us. If we go 7-5 we will have another horrible recruiting class. Either way WAY TOO EARLY to be crying about it.

Tennessee has been the "Benneton" of recruiting for a long time.

This is why Tennessee needs to beat Cal. This game is BIG and I mean in recruiting. West Coast exposure...we need it

This is the reason UT needs a coach who can win because of his offensive scheme and game plan, and not simply because of better talent.

Vanderbilt might just be the most humiliating place for a fan to be on gameday.........If you're a Vanderbilt fan.

Although this may be funny, it's true.

I didn't realize I had to spell it out for you in basic terms.

Look at different conference champs and top 10 teams from Season X, then look 2-4 years prior to see where their recruiting class ranked. For most teams, it will be a good ranking.

Need any more clarification?

Didn't Fulmer just have a top recruiting class the year before? We'll be ok as long things get back on track next year. No need to panic.

still means jack squat to me. recruiting is another money maker that is way over hyped.

explain us being number 1 then laying down and taking up the pooper the next season.

I clearly stated that recruiting class in 2006 and a season's outcome in 2007 don't matter. Please, think before you post, so we can discuss things in a better manner.

Funny how no body was saying that recruiting means nothing when we were leading the SEC in that category. Now we're behind the 8-ball but it's okay 'cause it don't mean nothin'.
