yeah, i don't like the fact he did what he did. But i wanted to thank him for what he did at Tennessee. He had a big smile on his face when i told him the first game i ever came to was 1996 ucla when terry fair ran the punt back. Biggest smile i saw on his face the whole time i chatted with him. or in any picture.

Nice pic. Glad you got a chance to meet him.

Everyone has their own cross to bear.

LL was one of the best defensive players to ever wear the orange period.

Leonard little was a beast on the feld. But off the field he was total discipline. Straight laced athlete, He wasn't a wild partier, he wasn't a thug, he was a nice guy, who was total concentration on making a career so he could take care of his family. If he had been a wild child like say a certain unnamed bottle thrower I might have less sympathy....but he was the least likely person for this to happen to. They tried to paint him as a outa control thug player in the St Louis press, really pissed me off. It's a shame it happened, but that it could happen to him is just a reminder it can happen to anyone. Leonard Little is Vol family, would give anything to see him working in the program.

Just cause I never get tired of posting this as my all time favorite UT football video.....I try post it at least once per thread.

Think my favorite play of the video is 1:40 in the Stormtrooper unis, when Leonard and Al instantly switch from defense to offense after fumble and put two perfect blocks for the TD run back......that is what I mean by discipline and heads up football.....it looks like a design play instead of what it was, adapting to chaos and owning it.

I like your post but leave the past in the past. Just say he is a vfl and leave the rest of it out.
Although I know a lot of people have taken stupid chances and some more than others, it's hard to hide an elephant in the room. It is what it is.

No ones hiding it.....but not everyone feels a need to celebrate others misfortunes and losses, in order to make themselves feel better about their own mundane lives......Too many people get some sort of sick thrill out of watching people in the public eye have their mistakes and issues get blown up for all to see. They need to spend some time with baby Jesus or somethin.

The family of the woman killed by a drunk LL doesn't share your love of his brilliance on the field I doubt. Your lack of sympathy to them with your personal embelishment of LL is quite sickening actually. People make mistakes and some can be swept under the carpet. Killing someone while drunk and driving (and getting caught later a 2nd time) is not something that gets chalked up to "I just made a simple mistake".

I assume you never made a mistake in your decision making process. However, if you have, a hope you paid the price just as Mr. Little has.

What price has he paid? I love what he did on the field. But what he did off is inexcuseable. There is NO excuse to drive drunk. Ever.

Have ever told a lie? Took anything that wasn't yours? Well, it's still a sin. LL has prayed and ask for forgiveness from God. He was forgiven. If you repented, you was forgiven too. There's only one sin that's unforgivable, that's blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus can forgive those who persecuted Him by saying forgive them Father, for they know not what they do, then we should have the same love for all. Because he was stretched wide, hung high & died for all of our sins (LL's too), Saints & sinners alike.

Jesus asked, how can you love me, but hate your brother? You must have a forgiving heart, regardless of what happens to you. Forgiveness is freedom. If you decide to judge, make sure you Judge yourself to be Righteous 1st, that's John 7:1-5. See also John 7:24.

Guess I didn't read the article where God officially came out and forgave LL for killing one of his chosen subjects.

Was that recently or some time ago? And was this killing deemed just a sin much the same as telling a white lie? Was that also something that was determined a while ago or just recently (like this weekend at Neyland?).

Your parties? Ha. Who the heck would come to your parties?

Invite LL. Bet he'll come if you let him know it's free booze.

If it was your mother or sister that he killed, then I have a feeling your tune would be a little different. JMO

Dude can say what he wants.

Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been far from perfect. I thank God everyday for Grace & Mercy.

And then was busted a couple of years later for drunk driving again. Lesson was apparently not learned.

If you were going to bring up the 2nd arrest then it is only fair to let people know that he was later acquitted of that charge... If it was the original poster's intention to extoll Leonard's career with this thread then it should have been left at that and not made mention of the DUI/Manslaughter of Susan Gutweiler. Even the most subtle mention of that here is bound to bring out the self righteous crowd who invariably hijack the thread and try to make people feel guilty for fondly remembering the career of a great player. Leonard is the best pass rush end Tennessee has had in recent memory and was at his best on 3rd or 4th down. He was a fiery player and team leader. There is no way the fiasco in Memphis happens if Little hadn't torn his ACL the week before in South Carolina. He would have woke them up when they needed it. Great player,,,Great Vol

Woulda, shoulda, coulda.

LL WAS a great player at UT. As a person off the field, he is a poor excuse for a role model or someone this school should celebrate.

But them most at Neyland were probably tossing back a few anyhow, so putting LL out there on the field is probably a nice touch. And those that drank and drove home after the game, I'm sure you are all pillars of the community as well.
