Leonard Little - VFL

If you were going to bring up the 2nd arrest then it is only fair to let people know that he was later acquitted of that charge... If it was the original poster's intention to extoll Leonard's career with this thread then it should have been left at that and not made mention of the DUI/Manslaughter of Susan Gutweiler. Even the most subtle mention of that here is bound to bring out the self righteous crowd who invariably hijack the thread and try to make people feel guilty for fondly remembering the career of a great player. Leonard is the best pass rush end Tennessee has had in recent memory and was at his best on 3rd or 4th down. He was a fiery player and team leader. There is no way the fiasco in Memphis happens if Little hadn't torn his ACL the week before in South Carolina. He would have woke them up when they needed it. Great player,,,Great Vol

My biggest problem with Mr Little is that he choose to drink and drive again, after he had killed someone's mother/sister/daughter. Does that mean that I think he should have to wear a Scarlett letter? No, but you can't pretend it did not happen. I certainly have made mistakes as well, and I wish him the best. He is ultimately the one who has to go to bed at night and try to sleep knowing what he did.

Holy, righteous, and flawless one, some folks have to be taught more than once to get it. I too think he was reckless, irresponsible, and stupid to repeat the DUI. The question is, has he continued to do it of late? If yes, kick his azz, stomp his peter, drown him in the river before he kills somebody else. If he hasn't, then why do you insist on holding a grudge and spewing venom at him?

He may very we'll be a good person. He was one of my favorites as well when he played at UT. There was an article written a few years back that had an interview with the family members if the woman he killed, in which they claimed he still had never apologized or even made an attempt to. That's pretty sad if true.

It is time for the rest of us to forgive him though. He has paid his debt to society and has talked to the Vols about the dangers of drinking.

I'm just going to say I loved Little on the field and stay the hell away from the other part of the conversation.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda.

LL WAS a great player at UT. As a person off the field, he is a poor excuse for a role model or someone this school should celebrate.

But them most at Neyland were probably tossing back a few anyhow, so putting LL out there on the field is probably a nice touch. And those that drank and drove home after the game, I'm sure you are all pillars of the community as well.

Are you sure you weren't tossing a few back when you decided to get behind your keyboard? I, too, have drank and drive before. I have also served my country honorably for a good period of my life before I decided to make a career change. Drinking and driving doesn't permanently destroy one's integrity or character as long they learn from their mistake(s). In closing, you can take your self-righteous, bible-pounding tirade elsewhere.

He may have been advised to not approach the family by his lawyers. Perhaps with good reason. People today are so spiteful, they've been known to physically attack someone seeking to apologize. When I was in California, a guy ran over and killed a teen. The teen's cousin was with him. Nevermind that they were walking right in the middle of a 45mph road and any car coming around the curve wouldn't see them until it was too late. The guy stops to see if the teen is OK, realizes he is dead, and according to witnesses, is making a very tearful apology to the cousin. Cousin picks up a cinder block that was nearby and bashes the guy's head in. Kills him. That's just one such incident I either saw or read about. I've even experienced an incident where a little kid was running around in a store. The kid ran into the back of my legs, bounced off, hit his head, and screamed bloody murder. Despite the fact the mom witnessed the whole thing according to other customers, the mom started cussing me out and calling for security. What saved me was customers angrily telling mom and security how the "brat" had been running through the lanes pushing and shoving shopping cars and basically annoying everyone. I hadn't seen him doing that and but then again, I hadn't seen him at all until he bounced off the back of my legs. Point? It's very possible LL's lawyers told him to stay away from the family to avoid the potential of being accused or being provoked into an incident as a revenge act and get him into further trouble. People are just mean that way these days. Maybe a written apologize or open letter, but otherwise stay away. I've seen people spit on the person apologizing too. When you don't know why you're hating on someone, stop hating, I say.

I appreciate what Leonard did for UT as a player, the rest is none of my business.

I believe it says in your bible, those among you without sin, cast the first stone. As well as, judge not lest you be judged.
