While I think its way too premature for anyone to be hollering "start Nico", CJH isn't going to make that decision based and what people think we owe Milton. CJH's one job here is to win football games, PERIOD! He's going to start the QB who he thinks gives us the best chance to win. This isn't a decision to make based on "quid pro quo".Milton has waited for this chance for 3 years. He could have transfered. We owe him a little bit more than giving up on him 2 games into the season. Let's see how he does in the swamp.
He was a problem, but it wasn't all on his shoulders. He didn't play well, but when a QB is a bit off, the WRs have to step up and make plays as well. He hit Squirrel, Thornton, and Small right in the numbers for what should have been big gains and all three were drops. Keaton made the catch and then fumbled it away. The only WR that really had his head in the game was Bru. They have to give McCastles more looks. That guy is a playmaker.Milton wasn’t the problem last night
He is generally a very good qb on handling the ball - turnovers - he does well in the pocket - when he runs he does well - he needs to work on snap count on short yardage or checkoffs and he has to be more accurate on his downfield passing. As you know - High percentage screens and stuff in the flat are much easier to complete. As an offense - the offensive staff have to stretch the field. Ideally both vertically and horizontally. If he can't complete passes down the field - midrange - Georgia and Alabama have less field to cover and will be able to stop our offense much easier. Were you happy with his 20 of 25 for 218 yards for the rest of the game?
I really don't know what you mean - I have never experienced it. What is this wrong of which you speak. I am simply calling for him to be more accurate with downfield passing so we can win games we are capable of winning starting this Saturday. These are the same receivers that caught his passes against Clemson and last season when they were in stride and in front of the receivers. These guys haven't suddenly forgot how to catch passes.Wrong. It’s excuses. The Wars should have caught the majority of those passes. Like I said they catch them in practice and off jug machines. You just love being wrong.
But were you happy with his stats after the 1 of 8 start? He is generally a very good qb on handling the ball - turnovers - he does well in the pocket - when he runs he does well - he needs to work on snap count on short yardage or checkoffs and he has to be more accurate on his downfield passing. Look at the games last year and Hooker did a lot of those screen passes also to set up the deeper passes. I don’t get all the hate for one mediocre game. By this logic we should have benched Peyton after the Memphis game. The stats aren’t why people are disappointed. It’s the inability to complete a pass to the middle of the field. The overwhelming majority of his completions yesterday were swings and screens.
One mediocre game? You think that's why everyone was up in arms at about 6pm Saturday? No sir. The people who were calling for Milton to be benched have been waiting for Milton to take the next step for 2 years. Here's to hoping he put it's all together against Florida. But even if he doesn't, here's to hoping he continues to protect the ball and gets some help from his receivers. Those guys have been a huge disappointment so far in 2023. I'm way more disappointed in them than I am Milton.Look at the games last year and Hooker did a lot of those screen passes also to set up the deeper passes. Omg - step up??!!! He has been waiting his turn and was the MVP in the Orange Bowl when VOLS beat Clemson. This last game was more on the receivers. We have to remember our two best WRs are now playing in the NFL and it’s a different team. Our Defense is playing lights out and have one of best run games in SEC with our center out. Negavols need to chill. One mediocre game? You think that's why everyone was up in arms at about 6pm Saturday? No sir.
