Let the RB controversy begin!

Our kickoffs were much better than last yr (how could they not be?) and what few punts we had seemed to be covered well, and 40 yr returns are worthless if they are called back for blocks in the back. IMO the special teams were much improved.

The elimination of the halo rule has made returning punts a lot scarier.

Yes, Austin did a fine job at returner. He didn't win that job for no reason. He has solid hands, and great speed, he just didn't have a chance to do anything with any of those on Saturday. It'll happen for him eventually.

This is Cut we're talking about here. I think there will be more passing than running. If that's the case, then what's the point of having multiple RBs? I remember one featured RB in a Cut offense and that was Jay Graham. My main concern is rhythm. AF needs to constantly get the ball or does anyone disagree?
Charlie Garner, Little Man Stewart, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry.

I find it hard to believe people are already criticizing him. He made zero mistakes. If he had been returning punts last year, we might have beaten Florida. That would mean.... bowl game. Honestly, everyone has been raving about our offense's improvement, but the special teams appear to have made about the same amount of progress.

any one else think we should try to get more than one of them on the field at once? kind of like cal did with forsett and lynch?

That's really true. Just fielding punts and holding onto the ball would have saved us about 120 yards of field position.

I dunno VKB, maybe. OTOH I think the best run blocker on the field on Saturday was Meachem!

I wouldn't mind having two of them on the field every now and then. It worked pretty well for Auburn with Cadillac and Ronnie Brown. If Coker is as fast as advertised, he might be pretty effective as an occasional receiver in the slot. I don't know if any of the backs have good enough hands to make it in such a system, though.

we did pretty well in 98 with the two travis's.

travis henry was sooooo good.

for this year, i think foster is the best of the bunch, but the other guys should clearly get some carries. foster is better than riggs, and arguably as good as houston, imho.

A fresh set of legs is always a good thing and after all 3 being banged up, it's good not to rely on just one as to give them all a chance to make it back to 110%.

Foster has yet to do anything impressive against a good defense. Riggs ran for almost 200 yards against 2004 Auburn. He also dominated LSU last year. Foster may be better, but he hasn't proven that yet.

I think the fact that he ran for 900+ yards with effectively no passing game to keep the defense out of 8 man fronts was pretty impressive no matter who we were playing.

ANd he did it banged up too, didn't he?

I never said Foster wasn't good, but some people on here seem to think that Foster is the Walter Payton to Riggs' David Yancey

Just remember whose 8 man fronts they were. From what I saw last night, UK could play with a 14 man defense and it wouldn't do them any good.
