Let the rumblings begin in gatorville

Why are you guys arguing with a fan whose team's real history only began in the mid to early 90's?

Now, get back to arguing with a team with real traditions. You know, the team with the Million Dollar Band and the Two Million Dollar Defensive Line (Gosh, Milo, I wish I had come up with that).

Those poor Gators need to understand that we teams who rank in the top 10 of all-time wins just don't get all that torn up over these Johnny-come-lately's.

SOS is gone and the guy with the gimmick offense won't find many 5/6 Vol teams to win over. :D

Do I understand you correctly to be saying that the optimism level is high because the media are expecting a mediocre season?

When has Tennessee ever lived uop to its pre-season top 5 ranking? 2002 and 2005 are prime examples. 2004 we were picked to finish 3rd in the East. Won the east and 10 games with freshman QB's. 2001 we won the East and were predicted to finish 2nd, 19 point underdogs to you guys and won. So yes, Im optimistic when people expect a mediocre season. When we are double digit dogs I get excited. Fulmer is 5-1 as a double digit underdog. So yah, you got me right on gator boy.

There is no doubt in my mind that last year was in fact an aboration. The University of Tennessee will be back on track this year and will compete for the SECC. You can book it.
And for you LG, one thing to consider, we will have 2 games under our belt when we play you this year. I like that a lot.

I know that I have to wait to prove my point and that is fine. But all who doubt will soon be believers.

09/02 So Miss
09/16 at Tennessee
09/23 Kentucky
09/30 Alabama
10/07 LSU
10/14 at Auburn
10/28 Georgia
11/04 at Vanderbilt
11/11 S Carolina
11/18 W Carolina
11/25 at Florida St

7 of those games are going to be challenging. If UF falters and out of SEC contention i see the coach playing playing Tebow more but I still thing Leak with his experience will be the man. realistically a 5-2 start is good for the gators whith whom they have to play.

Actually, I agree with that. I want to see some 10 win seasons for a few years before I put us back where SOS had us in the late 90's. I think it is possible we can get back there. I think the talent is there. I think Meyer is promising. The school, the fans, and ther athletic department are supportive. All the ingredients are in place for optimism in Gainesville. Whether the team can actually perform remains to be seen. But it is certainly an exciting thing to anticipate.
I think UGA has put itself atop the Eastern division over the past 4-5 years...and while UF has beaten them with more regularity than we have since Richt has been there, they havn'e won an SEC title in a few years either.

Right now, i'd say UGA and LSU are tops...with Auburn, UF right behind 'em...then there's us, Bama, USC, and on down the line.

The difference these days is that i don't think the gap between who's on top, and who's 3rd or 4th is as big as it used to be. We are probably in the middle of one of the eras with the most parody in CFB in a long time.

in april there's plent of reason for fans of Auburn, Bama, TN, LSU, UF, UGA to all be optimistic....

Does that mean you'll join the enlightened community if we tank it again this season?

I'm with you volmanjr. Why can't people show just a touch of optimism with the strides the Vols are trying to make.Please.At least do it for the players sake.If the fans aren't optimistic about the season, what will the players think. These guys are busting their butts in practice.

No but you can be darn sure that I'll do it if I turn out to be correct. All other germane comments comments that I could add in reply will have to be saved for the off topic depository.
