Let's give this team the rest of the season before we write them off.

Looking forward, if we can beat NC St, Morehead St, Virginia and Tusculum we will be 10-3 heading into SEC play.

I think most rational posters were hoping for 11-2 in OOC play so that isn't that far off.

Appear to be our toughest SEC games. If we can go 14-4 in the SEC we would be a lock for the NCAA tourney at 24-7 plus the SEC tourney.

There are plenty of opportunities for this team to make the tourney still.

I honestly think we could still win the conference if we get it all together, everyone needs to rally behind the team because the last thing UT athletics in general needs is another coaching search!

Go Vols beat the Wolfpack!

There are still tons of opportunities for this team. The first step is winning the rest of the OOC. 3-0 vs the ACC is huge even if it against their bottom teams.

Gotta start hitting easy buckets under the basket. We missed at least 7 on Saturday, right under the basket!

If we do that and hit our free throws at a better clip we will likely win almost every game left.

We seem to do everything else at a winning level, IMO.

i want to be positive and believe this team can do all that. but Martin's track record and start to this season says otherwise.

we'll see.

To me his track record shows that at some point in the season, his teams "get it" and really get on a roll.

Hopefully this 4 game stretch at home will provide this team that opportunity against a couple of decent teams.

Yep. Early this season it seems as though we tried to work the perimeter on offense too much. Now we attack and get to the basket but can't get points when we get there. Not even tough shots, but shots that look like they are expecting contact and are thrown off when they don't get it.

UK and Florida will be our toughest opponents in the SEC. They're both winnable games. UK is very young and overrated this year. For Florida, we always seem to play so well against them. I'm not going to call for Martin's head just yet but if we don't see improvement throughout the season, I'll think otherwise.

My complaint is that our OOC schedule is really nothing to brag about. We have yet to beat a team we weren't supposed to. This team just let's you down in games that we should win by 15. It's not the Fl, LSU, Mizzu, or KY games that worry me, it's the easy victories that we seam to muff on. It's a continuous pattern the last 2 years under Zo, and the Xavier and UTEP game still show it's a problem. We can't lose those games and expect the NCAA to give us passes come March. I think we will lose 5-7 games in SEC play, and then we will need to win a game or two in SEC tourney. Our OOC schedule is nothing special and the only game so far we should have lost was W. State.

Sportsource said Sunday that Tusculum was an exhibition game. It will not count for us as a regular season game.

UK is on the road. Just sayin.

No matter how the season goes, Cuonzo will never be able to overcome the coaching schemes and strategies of stout opposition. That's a killer in the tournament. Just getting into the tournament is nowhere near as impressive as being able to do some damage after you get there.

You act as if no other teams in the country have lost a game or two against teams they are better than. It's CBB, it happens.

Once again if we win the next four, going into SEC play with 3 losses isn't a back breaker. UVA and NC St games are just plain huge though.

FACT: No team that has started 6-3 has EVER made the tournament.

FACT: It is mathematically impossible for UT to compile a winning record at this point.

FACT: Martin's teams show no signs of improvement as the season goes on.

Threw me for a loop there. I assume this is sarcasm.

I think we'll be 2-2 in the next 4.
A loss at LSU and throwing Bennett the bone for coaching.
VA is tougher than WS on defense. Lost their first true road game and will be looking to finish at TBA.
Wish I could be more optimistic. Just don't see it.

No, but better teams make up for it by beating teams that they shouldn't have, which for us will have to be KY or Fl who will both be at full strength most likely. NC ST and Virginia arent some great competition. NC ST has played no one great all season and are 7-2 and Virginia hasn't won a game against top teams in VCU and WI. Those arent signature wins, they are wins the NCAA expects us to have. Our schedule with being in the SEC is weak compared to a lot of other schools. We can't afford to lose to inferior opponents. Don't believe me? Maybe you guys haven't noticed we have been in the NIT the last two years, mainly because of terrible losses to bad competition.

Martin wins less than 60% of his games. It will be a struggle to win 20 games.

It'd be nice if our football team would play the gay-tors. :hmm:
