Let's talk about Jalen Hurd - Eddie George is.

I'm wondering if Bajakian may be holding back some of the plays they intend to use for Hurd. I'd like to see them get Hurd on a wheel route against a LB. I realize they needed him to help the OL with pass protection against OU, but as they get opportunities I think JH would be a bad matchup coming out of the backfield for most LBs.

Hurd is a great young man. I have a lot of respect for him after watching this interview. They tried to bait him into bragging a few times and he didn't take the bait. I love how he consistently says we didn't get the win and the way he seems driven and how much the loss bothered him.

You're missing another variable too. One of our receivers (don't know who) missed a block that would have led to a Hurd TD on that long run. Butch talked about it in his post-game presser. I'll have to go watch the video of the run again.

I was only analyzing the play as it had to do with Jalen's speed. I don't doubt there was a missed block out there.

And just to reiterate: it was a great run, and I was ecstatic to see it happen.

Hurd is the man the big o showed a lot of talent other than a couple bad plays we was in the game the guys showed a lot of guts. Promising future

Not to burst the optimism bubble, but one of his long runs was sprung by a blatant hold that would have made it a no gainer.

The kid has great speed for a 6'3" 235lb football player but not great break away speed for a running back. I like his attitude and energy but I think he should be used more as a hybrid (RB/WR/H back) and develop one of the more traditional backs for this offense. I'm sure he stays at RB and I hope he does well.

What the h&ll are u talking about?

Butch is talking about the 4th quarter run that went down to about the 10. Wideout didn't hold his block, but Jalen gave the DB a good shot at the end.

On the long one Malone went in motion, which left no wide outs on the right at all. Pulling lineman and tackle made their blocks and Jalen shot through the hole. At that point, he was on his own; not another blocker over there. He zipped by the DB and LB Evans caught him. (I assumed it was a DB in previous posts, because of his speed and the low number. Turned out to be #26.) Beautiful play.

Kid is gonna be a star.

Great pass blocker, patient, powerful, and has breakaway speed. Total package at RB

Amen! That's what I'm screamin'! He is not Chris freakin Johnson in his prime and able to run a 4.2 40 folks, let's be realistic. Hurd is a 6'3 227 lb back with an excellent all around skill set and very high football IQ. Hurd has very good speed and burst for his size. Let's remember he is a true freshmen as well.

The defender took a good angle to get in position, (and was the outside linebacker on the other side, incredible pursuit!) but from the time they were virtually even at the 50, the defender outran Jalen. The hypotenuse is the longest side of a right triangle.

Well dang. Nevertheless I have no need to disparage Hurd's speed. Another half step there would have been nice.

This isn't rocket science...Hurd has VERY good speed for a guy his size. No, he isn't Eric Dickerson (a commonly cited comparison) fast but, c'mon, is that really a reasonable comparison? I am very much looking forward to what Hurd is going to accomplish before he leaves.

This kid has already hurt 2 middle linebackers that met him in the hole on inside running plays. Just give him another year in the SC program and look out.

Agreed. Kid only needs a little bit of S&C and the confidence that comes with it. He's going to be really good, but he just shows flashes at the moment.
