"We're The World (USA For Africa)"There comes a time when we heed a certain callWhen the world must come together as oneThere are people dyingAnd it's time to lend a hand to lifeThe greatest gift of allWe can't go on pretending day by dayThat someone, somewhere will soon make a changeWe all are a part of God's great big familyAnd the truth, you know,Love is all we need[Chorus:]We are the world, we are the childrenWe are the ones who make a brighter daySo let's start givingThere's a choice we're makingWe're saving our own livesIt's true we'll make a better dayJust you and meSend them your heart so they'll know that someone caresAnd their lives will be stronger and freeAs God has shown us by turning stone to breadSo we all must lend a helping hand[Chorus]When you're down and out, there seems no hope at allBut if you just believe there's no way we can fallWell...well...wellLet's realize that a change can only comeWhen we stand together as one[Chorus]
I'd like to think that recruiting Memphis hard would be good for us but there are so many things working against us. Distance, perception of East Tn in memphis, perception of Memphis in East Tn, other programs have made major inroads in recruiting the area. How many recruits does Memphis produce yearly that could play in the SEC? May not be worth the effort.Guys, if we can get away from the whole racist thing it would be great.
If the next coach started to concentrate on Memphis again, would it be worth it? Would the prospects in Memphis respond. Does UT really mean much to them?

Dooley did act like a prick when he was here. Never understood the attitude, but now I hear about how he really was, it all makes sense. Kiffin was actually liked and he related to a lot of the guys. I think Kiffin would have opened the pipeline.
Do you think the risk is worth the reward though? Should the next coach try to strengthen the pipeline or should we lay low until we're off probation?
I was born and raised in Memphis. But, I've been gone now for a while (parents still live in town). Most of what I know about the current prospects I know from my parents or sports sites reporting about the Memphis market.
And we just don't like you.I can handle a few rednecks here and there. Sure beats the prospect of being shot, stabbed, or mugged whenever I want to take a stroll outside.
That isn't really my point. Most people from Memphis probably couldn't even point Nashville out on a map. Not saying they are stupid, but most don't even consider themselves Tennesseans.
Neither do I.
I've had to go to Memphis about a dozen times, and I just don't like the place. Sorry.
When it comes to instate recruiting Coach Martin and Coach next in line for football will recruit the Memphis area heavily. For Basketball if Pastner keeps coaching the way he does and if CCM can get more signature wins recruits will want to leave and go else where. If Knoxville seems like a fit Memphis recruits will leave. Football UT should be pulling two to three recruits out of Memphis each year.
