Lexie Brown Will Transfer From Maryland

I'm not sure team or program success is a factor for her. After all, she just transferred from a program where she went to two FFs in her first two years.

She just wants her family to be able to see her play every once in a while. She doesn't want to play for some bad team just because she wants to be home. If Maryland didn't switch conferences she might have stayed because they play GA Tech and Clemson every year. A couple hour trip to Columbia or Knoxville is no big deal. Her family can come visit her whenever they want. Both team play at Athens. Carolina plays at Clemson. She is looking to UPGRADE her situation not downgrade it, similar to Diamond and Kaela.

Maryland made it to the final four the last two years and lost in the semi-finals both times. The only upgrade would be to play for one of the teams that played for the national championship. Both years that game was Notre Dame vs. UConn. Are those the two teams she is considering?

Tennessee is concentrating on 2016 right now, not looking at transfers. They are interested on where she is going, but not actively recruiting Lexie.

Holly would much rather have a kid for four years compared to two.

Holly would actually have her for three years. One year as a red shirt, during which she could practice with the team and build chemistry. In years two and three, she could play in games.

A very good player for two years is better than an ok player for 4.

Not when there is a player as equally good in HS that removes you from consideration because you no longer have an opening at her spot.

Recruiting is much more complex than many realize.

I'm not just talking about her team situation, I am talking about her life + future career situation that will only suffer if she goes to team that is much worse than Maryland. South Carolina with Coates, Wilson, Davis, White, Cuevas and Brown is a better team than she was ever on in Maryland. Tennessee 2 years from now with Brown is probably a better team than any Maryland team she's ever played for either. The only problem she has with Maryland is her family can't come and see her play.

It depends on the situation, if your team has a specific need and there is a player that is a proven star (a top ten national player) like Brown that fills that need two years of her is great, and you 3 years to recruit other players behind her because she sits out a year.

I would think she would want to enter by July so she could get her sit out year in so we should hear something soon. As far as Tennessee I am more interested in the players we are recruiting who are freshmen than Brown. I think there is one who is certainly better player and we really don't want to mess up and turn her off to Tennessee.

The down side is...you might not sign her even with Brown going elsewhere. One in the hand over two in the bush....I'll take a sure star 2 year college player over an unsigned 4 year high school player with multiple choices including you and unproven college stats..

doesn't CHW all ready have PGs coming in ? we all know post players are what CHW needs at the moment

If being home was the reason for her transfer, then Louisville to me is not the answer. It is not that much closer to Georgia than UMD. On the other hand they do play in the ACC, but due to conference realignment there is a good chance she will only get 2-3 games over a two year period within a decent drive of her home in Atlanta--@ Clemson and @Georgia Tech.

From a drama standpoint this would really kick the Brenda Friese-Jeff Walz feud up a notch wouldn't it.

I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up at Louisville or Kentucky or SC as they are transfer magnets. When they hear someone is transferring they seem to want them all and get right on it.

If she had interest in Tennessee I would take her. She can play the off guard position and shoots the three at 35 percent. We could use her in 2016 if we fail to get the guards we are after. If I was Holly and she had interest I would bring her in or at least pressure a commitment out of the freshman guards for 2016 we need to get somebody on the board for 2016. Right now were at 0.

She reportedly visited Louisville earlier this week.

I thought Louisville was guard heavy too.

It wouldn't matter to either of the three of Louisville, Ky, or SC just gives them a year to make room as they have already done a few times in the past. You can also add Baylor to that group although I don't think she has interest in them.
