LG's take on Muschamp and the Gators, generally

With all the talent Muschamp has had at texas, I am VERY unimpressed with the results. He seems like he would be a good fit at georgia, because nobody, and I mean nobody gets less out of more than them.

How about waiting to see the staff that Muschamp pulls in before we proclaim UF as shoe-ins for the SECCG next year? Interesting how "UF is down in talent" and they are likely looking at changing the offense completely around to a pro-style (even though they have very questionable QB play, no experience pro-style RBs, and very weak returning WRs), yet USC returns pretty much the whole team but UF should be favored.

I live to serve.

You'll note, by the way, that I'm not sold on Florida having as much talent as some folks seem to think.

Sounds like USC trying to explain why they sucked this year.

Florida's woes had nothing to do with "lacking talent".

Gator fans humor me when attempting to spin this as a great hire.

I never said this was a great hire, at all. I said it looks like he has the tools, but is unproven. I would have thought we'd get a more proven coach, but am willing to give this guy a shot.

No spin here. Its odd. But on the whole it has potential.

Understood. My mistake.

I think some of the problem was dramatically overestimating the offensive line. I was shocked at how bad they were.

And that means either that the evaluation of them as 5 star players, ready for the NFL, was way of. Or that Addazio, who was OC and also the offensive line coach, completely blew it.

You choose.

It was the latter, by a long shot.

My sources have told me he will be the second biggest bust only behind the one and only, zoomed

1. On the job training doesn't usually workout.
2. That chest bump with players will come in handy.
5. Yes
6. I think the Vols will be in the way.
7. Exactly.

That's about all I care to type on this topic.:hi:

I'm underwhelmed by the hire.

Gold.

Underwhelmed because Florida should be able to draw a "bigger fish", or underwhelmed because you actually don't think he'll do a good job?

Probably 85% or more of Volnation had never even heard of Derek Dooley a year ago today...just saying.

I'm going to reserve my judgement for down the road a little ways. I hope for the SEC's sake that you are right.

My impression of the whole Florida situation is that the athletic dept was smart to act quickly and get rid of Meyer if his heart wasn't in it anymore. Muschamp can at least maintain the level of athletes coming into UF. Even if his tenure is not a success( BCS bowls and championships), his replacement won't have to play catch up like Coach Dooley. That's the way I see it anyways.

I tend to agree with you, UF had to move quick to eliminate the chance UM changed his mind again. I also don't think it was an as attractive of a job as people think, and the top "name coaches" didn't want to take the chance of being Zookered....
