liberals are children.

Would you suggest some google search terms other than "Mother Theresa"?

YouTube - Mother Teresa: DEAFANATLY NOT A SAINT!

She's been made into a legend and hero that doesn't fit the facts. She was more interested in promoting her own Order than helping the poor. She promoted policies such as lack of birth control and family planning that only breeds more poverty. She accepted money from terrible villains of the world, and then applied it to more convents in her name-- not to helping the poor of Calcutta.

But China on the other hand has done soooo much for civil rights, huh? I see no mention of how the lights going up for them was wrong.

Talk about cherry picking youtube videos. I type her name in and got this:

YouTube - Mother Teresa's home of the dying

This seems much more positive ... oddly.

My opinion is not the popular one. I don't see how that has any bearing on what i said. In fact, I've been very clear that the popular portrayal of here is inaccurate, imo.

You're going into robot mode again. You're childishly trying to apply what was said to you earlier when you made the blanket statement of "professors are all crazy liberals drunk on power", which obviously isn't the norm. I'm talking about a specific individual, and an opinion I hold of them. It's a completely different sort of discussion.

So now I'm guilty for what i don't say?

I have seen no mention of you criticizing the Rwandan genocide. You monster!

See how stupid that is?

Sort of. You did ignore the point of the post which is that I thought they were wrong for not lighting it up for Mother Theresa but did light it up for communism. You responded by saying that Mother Theresa isn't so great but didn't comment on them lighting it up for communism.

Okay, let me comment. The Cold War is over. We won. The changes China has made over the last 20 years reflect that as much as anything. I didn't find it wildly offensive to give a nod to them.

Yes, they have human rights issues, but they're working on them. They aren't the enemy, they're the competition. There's a difference.

Catholics don't believe in birth control and they aren't going to promote it's use. I'm not catholic and I do believe in birth control. In fact I don't think it would be a bad idea to give girls birth right after they hit puberty and not stop until they want kids. How else can I justify not agreeing with abortion? I think it's possible to not get pregnant if you don't want to get pregnant. Sorry that was off topic.

I think getting mad at Catholics for not supporting birth control makes about as much sense as getting mad at Mormons for the Prop 8 thing. They don't agree with homosexuality and don't agree with homosexuals getting married. It's just an excuse to demonize religion.

Or maybe it's the reason to demonize religion.

Regardless, Mother Theresa's financial movements are what are the most damning.

Maybe. But China is undeniably changing.

They have to get rid of that communist constitution and place limits on their government. Until they do that, things could shift right back where they were 30 years ago. Placating the populace isn't the same as having a right to freedom.

I don't agree with how you are reading things over there. They're not going back. They're not becoming a democracy like us, they are becoming something else. Something new. The population isn't being placated. If anything, the current government elites are moving things forward on their own, bringing the population with them. There's some serious societal engineering taking place on a scale that is unprecedented.

If you like large middle classes, you ought to love China. They have the largest in the world and it's growing. They aren't the same country they were even 10 years ago.

It's not like religion has control of government, they just have influence over their parishioners. Don't unions have the same kind of influence? Should they be demonized for the same thing? What if the government collected tithes like they do union dues?

I'll always choose to accept truth from any YouTube video with the word "DEAFANATLY" in the title.

Christopher Hitchens has spent a lot of time deriding Mother Theresa.

So, she does not believe in birth control. Her efforts in Calcutta and throughout India are astounding. I was in a hospital run by the Missionaries of Charity organization through the help of The Mother Theresa Foundation in Porumamilla, India. I was there for two months, this past fall. This hospital provides free healthcare to all, regardless of creed, and is a boon to the local villages. On top of that, the hospital has little to no surplus finances. I was even asked if I had MD friends back in the States who might want to volunteer a month or two to come to Porumamilla and work as surgeons and general practitioners.

There are plenty of incriminating statements that can be made from the outside looking in, with regard to Mother Theresa and India, in general. However, doing business (whether that be for profit or non-profit) in Calcutta is complex.

You and Neocon are peas in a pod. Find where I've ever said anything remotely positive about unions.

Bleep boop beep.

Well, this is civil and open minded. We're going to gain ground here.

You made a comment about me cherry picking after I had posted multiple links from multiple different sites all about different professors from different colleges. I went from Ivy league to Community College.

You picked ONE video. One. That's cherry picking.

You also need to stop with the personal attacks. It's getting old.

Yeah, you were cherry picking.

ah yes. my brother in law has a phd in geology and he's of similar viewpoints. dude has a very poor understanding of even basic economics though. his dad told me that the only rational reason why people might not be a fan of obama is if they are racist.

I know allot of wealthy geologists. No need to generalize..:hi:

China finally realized just as Japan demonstrated, the way to defeat the USA is by competing not fighting.
