Insurance companies have yet to understand today’s juries. They continue to parade 15 attorneys out there and think they can intimidate claimants. That doesn’t work anymore, in fact it only makes it worse for the insurance company. I was a witness in a trial recently. I walked in and in the left you had the plaintiff, his wife and their attorney. On the right you had two large corporations, each with their legal teams. Back in the congregation you had one person sitting on the plaintiff side while the corporation side had several expert witnesses. I knew those companies were screwed the moment I walked in. Sure enough, despite little damage to the plaintiff and weak facts, the plaintiff won $3M.It gets me paid.
It is just frustrating that everybody had the same information 2 months ago and they were offering crap. Now we are on the eve of trial and I am putting in stupid hours and they are gonna blink at the last possible moment? It often feels like a game the insurance companies play on larger cases just to see if you are willing to take it all the way.

I had never participated in something like that though. It was actually pretty fun, especially when I was on the stand and the judge dismissed the jury so he could lay into the plaintiff attorney.
