If it looks like a thug, walks like a thug and raps like a thug.....it's a thug. Not on a high-horse here, it's just sad to see what the music industry has devolved into.

If he's a thug, I'd bet more than 85% of our team is too.

At least the dude was in honors classes in school. Half of our team can barely read.

About all you can pin on him is how he got big into drugs, mainly codeine though, and really, we have no room to talk with how many players we've had over the past few years with drug problems.

opinions are like A-holes, everyone's got one...

dont like it , dont buy it.

"We're Lil Wayne fans," Kiffin said following the Vols' physical, high-intensity Wednesday practice. "We've played him a number of times out here before (in the team's practice music selections). So I guess we're getting a little street cred."

:eek:lol:

"Sure it is" a recruiting tool, Kiffin acknowledged. "You're dealing with kids in the age frame, we're dealing with them all the way from eighth-graders to seniors in high school, so the more we're out there, the better. It's good."

:hi:

I'd love to see a video of the team in practice when that line went off over the speakers.

My ears are bleeding! Gawd, that's some bad stuff. What's even more appalling, is that people really like this crap and actually spend money on it! You think if I vomited into a bag with a microphone attached to it that someone might buy it? Oh well, great. Now we have us a convicted felon who's just begun serving a 1 year prison sentence associated with us. I am so proud....

Hey man, people have different tastes.. imagine that! Could you even think that some people think the music you like sucks? I know it's hard, but don't be so close minded.

Just for the record, I didn't listen to the song.

This could be the greatest thing to ever happen to UT recruiting, unreal. I hate Lil Wayne and think he is an untalented loser, but this is just great. I assume most of these recruits love Lil Wayne. The publicity this will get within those recruiting circles is huge.

My feelings

Before listening to the song, I thought the rhyme would be fat spliffing.

Maybe Rick Ross can you that one.

My favorite lyric in a rap is when he said "I use steroids to fatten up my chickens."

Hey Hellbent,

That thug has more influnce on society than Palin, Obama, or any other so call leader because more people would take his word seriously that a stimulus package or bailout proposal. Sorry for ranting but if the World renowned artist mentions our coach in his lyrics and in a positive light, We get major exposure and by the way, since Lil Wayne is from New Orleans, that area which includes parts of Texas, Louisana, Mississppi, and Alabama will hear it whether it go platinum or not. Local artists and major artists gets major play in the stereos of the fan base which inculde alot of Top Recruits! If UT wants Memphis, let Project Pat, Playa Fly, or Three Six Mafia mention Lane Kiffin in a song, Memphis would become Volunteer Stomping Ground! I maybe a preacher but I know Hip Hop and work with recruit age teens daily and know some! This will become a revolution if we continue to get exposure like Lil Wayne gave us!

It is really sad that the Tennessee Football staff is associated with this song and even worst that Lane Kiffin encourages it. A head coach should know better!

No matter what your taste in music is, the message that is being sent with these lyrics is in poor taste and not what our young people should be listening too. God help us if this is where we are going!

If you understood the origin and growth of Hip Hop, you would take back that statement. This rappers are like country music singers, they reflect their culture and their reality. I don't listen to classical, heavy metal or country but if there was a blue chip quarterback who liked classical, I would jump for joy if Beethoven did a rendition of Rocky Top! I don't comment on what I don't know but Hip Hop is not just booty shaking and making it rain. It is a reflection ontheir culture. These rappers come from the same neighbor as still recruits! Ignorance is not bliss, learn before you comment or you look Judgmental(read Matthew 7:1 for reference) Go Vols!

This in just one genre of music...if you don't like, you don't have to listen. Just because he raps and dresses a certain way doesn't make him a thug. No sense in stereotyping...you just might be on a high horse. Would it be OK with you if it was any other kind of music??? The vast majority of today's 15-16-17-18 yr olds enjoy this kind of music and there is nothing at all wrong with it. I'm A-OK with a shout out to UT or CLK in any kind of song--any kind of music. As CLK said, it just gives us a little more street cred. I love it!!
