Listening to Netanyahu's Speech

I have some respect for him but he is a hawk and one that will force us into a war we do not want, need, nor can afford.

Doing all he can to keep his people from being wiped off the face of the Earth is being a "hawk"? Should we stand by and let that happen?
You guys need to get a grip on reality. It is in our best interest to back Israel.

Don't follow history much do ya there Dave?
That "sac of crap" is a better leader than we have seen in our recent history.

Just about anyone is a better leader than Obama. That being said, Netanyahu plays games and picks on the unarmed Palestinians and continually pushes further into their territory with the settlements. This stuff is pretty well documented. He is not innocent in the Israeli-Arab conflicts. As long as he is in charge, there will never be a chance for peace just as there won't be as long as some of the Arab leaders stay in power. Netanyahu doesn't want peace with the Arabs. He hates them as much as they hate him.

It's unfortunate that Ariel Sharon is not in power still because with him there was a chance for peace.

Ok, you're trying to play the semantics game. What I should say is that he is tearing down the homes of innocent people so that he can build new homes for the Israelis. Is that better?

Who did the rebel/palestinians forceably take the land from that makes up "their" territory? Palestinian is not even a race of people. I am not playing squat.

Netenyahu is a sack of crap. He's not much better than some of the leaders of the countries we speak out against, he just happens to be pro-west. We need to stay out of the middle east and let them settle their own issues. No more interventions.

Netenyahu is one hell of a lot better man than the sorry sack of crap that we are saddled with.

Who is gonna do that to them?

And yeah, it is in our best interest since entangling alliances are our #1 priority.

If you are asking this question, you probably haven't compared the military prowess of Israel to that of Iran.

Israel would wipe them off the map.

Iran would have backup from other countries in the region. Israel would not.

The Saudis and others* wouldn't be too happy about an Iran with nuclear weapons either. So much that they would ramp up their oil extraction to replace Iran's if needed.

* I just remember reading Saudis and the region in general would not be happy about a nuclear Iran since it would cause others to have to pursue.

You're not thinking in the terms of Iran's leaders... and any attack on Israel is usually considered a war by proxy against the U.S. (Hezbos, etc.)

At what point does Israel get to say enough in your mind? Never? They have a right to exist and defend themselves.

Israel can do whatever the hell they want as long as we aren't involved. At what point do we finally realize they aren't worth the trouble? When we are bankrupt?

So you'd be ok with it as long as there was no U.S. involvement?

Yes. In fact, Netanyahu has asked us to step off because he claims we tie their hands when it comes to their enemies. I say we oblige and get completely out of the picture. It doesn't make sense to give aid to Israel and simultaneously give aid to her enemies. We have the most idiotic foreign policy imaginable.

I think he was referring to Obama backing off more than anything.

OK, new question (fun times). if something happens and Iran strikes Israel... do we get involved? And what if other countries start to help Iran's cause?

I'm not provoking, I'm really trying to understand where you guys are coming from.

Can you elaborate/justify that?

I hope not, but we probably do, given our track record. If you're asking if I think we should, it's a definite "no".

Can't post everything I've read or watched, but I was under the impression he was telling Obama to let them to do what has to be done, kind of a scolding.

If the ME starts a new WWIII, how do we not get involved? Purely hypothetical question. I think that's what most people are worried about.

How do we do it? By simply standing back and watching it. The only reason people are worried about WWIII is cause if it does happen they know we'll be in the middle of it.

How do we ensure adequate national defense when we are bankrupt?

This is the basis of your anti-Israeli attitude?
You say that Israel has a better military and you are correct. They do not WANT war but they are not going to stand by while Imadinnerjacket gets a nuke. When he gets a nuke, all the planes and tanks in the world are useless if he decides to carry out his threat to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

Just because I don't want to give them aid in the form of money, muscle, and BJ's doesn't mean I'm anti-Israel.

I'm Switzerland.

Propaganda leads us to believe Ahmedinajad made that threat. He did no such thing. He said "their regime will vanish from the page of time." This is the accepted translation. Pro-Israeli propaganda turned it into that threat you referenced.

Oh......OK......if someone said that about your family, you would just ignore it huh? Your version of the threat is laughable. You also chose to ignore the reason that Israel is on the offensive. If Iran uses the bobm on any one and the rest of the world just "stays out of it" as you want. Then he will use it again and it might be us this time. Your "take care of our own" theory is naive.
