This is not a troll......but a rumor / little known story about how UT ended up with Davie Boy. Let me preface by saying that I have not been a Hart supporter at all, but this story is comes from a very credible Person. Story goes as follows: When Dave interviewed for the job at UT he had some level of interest in the job, but his main goal in interviewing with UT was to secure the AD job at Bama when Mal Moore retires (which is thought to be approaching in the next year or two). In other words he wanted to be thought of as the AD in waiting. After the UT interview and offer Dave went back to Mal Moore to discuss the future of his position and if he would be in the running for Moore's position upon his retirement. Moore had always looked to Hart as his successor but now Davie Boy wanted it formalized. In trying to formalize the deal with Hart Moore ran into staunch opposition from.....you guessed it......St. Nicholas Saban himself. Evidently, the board of Trustees took Saban's thoughts over Moores in the future of Bama Athletics. Evidently Saban didn't care for Hart's Napoleonic ways and felt his record as an AD wasn't that impressive. Just thought it was interesting that Saban has screwed us twice with his rejects first Dooley and now with Hart.

Not totally buying the premise here. I have no doubt that Saban would have input, but it sounds a little convenient.

It's amazing. Volnation never learns. We have no posters with any inside information, just lots of people who are really bad at parsing hearsay.

I also can't help but laugh at Saban supposedly not liking somebody for having "Napoleonic ways". That'd be like Linsay Lohan telling Snooki she drinks too much.

Paraphrasing: "Let me start by saying I don't like this guy. That being said, here's a story I made up to make you not like him either. Per sources. Fin."

Ah, those "always" credible sources. So, name your source.....or would that source be, a friend of a friend of a friend of a first cousin of your neighbor's kid's school teacher?

Basically OP there's nothing wrong with posting what you did. It is relevant to the football program and was posted in the right forum. What it comes down to is Volnation is "reliable source"-ed out. Jon Gruden isn't teaching Vonn Bell how to read a pass and the fanbase is pissed about it, including myself.

Simply put, using terms like "reliable source" will only get your post flamed and ignored.

I want to reply but don't want to be banned again for calling out an imbecile.

I have no doubt what so ever that any member of the Alabama Board of control or board of trustees would lick the bottom of Nick Sabin's boots and kiss his hindend if he asked them to. They're just sheep because he's winning

Not certain that being blocked by Nicky is a bad reflection on Hart. Maybe Nicky felt threatened by the personality and leadership style that Hart brought. When I was an officer in the Navy interviewing candidates (civilian/GS), I was blindsided by a glowing reference given by a candidate's employer. We hired the person and, about a month later, that "glowing" person had the attitude and temperament of a 4 year old.

When I spoke with my Chief about it after the fact, the Chief basically said, "Dumba**, this is a common move to pass the trash." Sound a little like Saban's outlook with Dooley?

Not everything is what it seems (especially on Volnation).

I hate Bama and Saban but who can blame them? I saw a report for 2012 that Bama made something like 62 million dollars off their football team, and that was without even playing for the SEC championship. He made at least that again for the 2012-2013 year. The last two years with Saban would have paid for almost 60-70 of the debt our entire athletic program is in right now. That's why you pay too dollar for a top of the line coach.
