Possibly. Don’t forget Heupel is still a young coach with only 5 years combined HC experience alot of NFL people aren’t completely sold on him yet.

You don't want Hendon Hooker? A guy who transferred in and watched the coach he came to play for get fired. Worked hard and saw the starting job go to someone else. Did he quit? Did he leave? HELL NO! He went to work, won that job back, and became one of the best to ever wear the orange.

You don't want Jalin Hyatt? A kid who was overlooked by his home state schools. A kid who was too skinny. All that kid did was put in some damn work and become the best WR in the nation last year.

You don't want Cedric Tillman? A dude who wasn't highly recruited. A guy who under the previous staff got little opportunity. What did he do? Went to work and became one of the best in the nation.

Mike Martz, who knows a few things about football, broke down Hooker's play on film and said he would have loved to coach a guy like Hooker, and that Hooker showed both the tangibles and intangibles of a very good NFL quarterback. He thought he could have done a lot with a guy like #5 in his QB room.

To be fair all players in college are “system” players. That’s why they have the combine, pro days, and individual workouts. Obviously our guys didn’t do as well as we thought they would and/or they don’t fit what teams are looking for.

I think Squirrel White would have put up similar numbers as Hyatt this past year if he would have started.
