I don't know if it was a re-run or not, but it was pretty good. Not all that much insight, but it just re-iterated what a class act Jake is. I figured there would be a post about it somewhere, as we have a lot of Titans fans on the boards.

It pretty much just talked about how he hangs out with children with terminal illnesses. But, I did gather that he is a smart kid, and has an extreme amount of loyalty. His personality is very Peyton Manningish. Turning down the #1 overall pick to return to school, etc.

If he can develop into an NFL caliber starting QB, I am excited to have this guy on my team.

As a Colts fan I like the pick, but as soon as Manning retires I will be sympathetic.

Wouldn't be saying that if he came out last year...

I would, because if you aren't accurate you can't survive in the NFL. He isn't accurate. He's a good kid, and I wouldn't mind being wrong about him, but I just don't expect much from him.

He'll make plays at first because he's a fantastic athlete. Teams aren't ready for him running around.

After 6 games or so, he's going to have get a lot better as a QB.

I really like the guy and would like to see him do well, but QBs like him rarely do anything big in the NFL.

I keep hearing this argument, but if I'm not mistaken the guy hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL yet. Let's judge his accuracy problems after he has thrown a couple hundred passes.

Players like Peyton come around only so often. Can't wait till he decides to hang it up.

I think there are plenty examples of those with his style whom did succeed, as well.

Well he has, and the coverage in the PAC 10 isn't nearly as good as it is in the NFL. 53.9% for his career on 1148 attempts.

Figured I couldn't have said it better than I did the first time.

I'm glad college performance now completely dictates one's professional
career...

In the same boat as baker on this one. Think he's a terrific character, but, unfortunately, after watching probably two dozen full games through his career, I just don't think he has the passing ability to make it in the NFL. And it's not like he didn't have good coaches to help him.

John Elway? Steve Young? Mike Vick? Steve McNair? Brett Favre? Shoot, if VY wasn't a mental dumpster fire, he'd still be a Titan. Note, I'm not saying that Locker is a future HOFer, but his style of play has been successful before and it will be successful again.

Favre might not fit exactly in that group, but he had very poor accuracy in college and ended up having a pretty good career...

And if we want to use a player's accuracy in college as proof of success in the NFL, Danny Wuerffel had a hell of an NFL career, as did Kliff Kingsbury and Colt Brennan. Uh huh.

What makes you think that he will all of sudden be able to make throws against far supperior athletes and far supperior coaches/schemes now, when he couldn't do it in college?

:rtfm:I didn't say that. In fact, I did say this:

So, anyway, he could be Steve Young or Brett Favre, or he could be Kyle Boller or Alex Smith. We won't know till he throws a couple hundred, maybe even thousands of NFL passes over the years. Only time will tell.

What makes you think Joe Flacco could go from FCS Delaware to winning playoff games as a rookie?

How did Brett Favre go from career 53% passer in college to a HOF career?

How did Mike Vick overcome the following stat line?
1999 - Passing: 58.8% 1840yds 12TD 5 Int., Rushing: 110-580yds 8TD
2000 - Passing: 54.2% 1439yds 9TD 7 Int., Rushing: 113-636yds 9TD

Time will tell. If he's great, he'll be great. If not, we're in trouble. I prefer to be optimisitic, but realize he could fail.

Sheesh!

Tough to be accurate when you are running for your life every play. He had a bad O-line in front of him, not much help there.

He was running for his life because he cant read a defense and if his first option wasn't open , he was running.

:eek:lol: People read what they want to read.

Titans fans should take a hopeful wait-and-see approach to Locker understanding he could be great or terrible. Have tempered expectations. I'm not sure where I've said that I personally think he's a future HOFer. I will not summarily reject his chances to be a good QB, nor am I under any assumption that he's going to light it up. I don't know. We'll find out over the years.

There will be bumps in the road. How he responds to the bumps is how he'll define his legacy. How will he respond? Who knows.

Not sure you ever said he was going to be a future HOF player, just used HOF players to make a comparision as to why he may have success.
