I've quit following the lock out pretty much in hope of waking up to a text saying a deal is done.

Imo will begin camps on last week of July. Too much money to lose from preseason games for the owners. Maybe lose the HOF game but not the home games

According to Albert Breer, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals just ruled that the lockout is legal. No further information.

Hope the ruling either is a positive catalyst for the negotiations or, at the very least, has no adverse effect.

Hope for the latter. They're already in pretty-much-forced negotiations. The only effect I could think of it having at a meeting would be some owners deciding they want to make a "land grab" on some CBA issue...which probably would just hinder things at this point

Just my thoughts though

Interesting...

From Albert Breer:

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have released the following statement: "We believe the overall proposal made by the players is fair for both sides and it is time to get this deal done. This is the time of year we as players turn our attention to the game on the field. We hope the owners feel the same way." So three quarterbacks, in that statement released to NFLN, are working to turn up the heat here. Not sure if it's necessary tho ... As I just reported on NFLN, one source characterized this as "deadline time" when you "do what it takes". Bottom line: Everyone -- the QBs in that statement, the league, the NFLPA -- seems to be in deal-making mode. It's a critical time.

Get ready for the season, boys. :)

Latest from Albert Breer:

Significant progress on rookie salary system today. In fact, if the parties can work out a couple minor issues, it could be solved. The resolution of this issue would be very big in these talks. As of now, it's the biggest outstanding issue.

The two sides have agreed to a rookie scale with only minor details left to finish on that. They will be meeting tonight and tomorrow as well. If they can get the scale done IMO the new CBA should be finished pretty quickly.

This is an ideal date to allow teams 48 hours to react to the terms of the new CBA before a week to ten days of free agency prior to the start of camps.

Season ticket holders have to purchase preseason games as part of their package. Lost games=lost revenue. Even owners understand this concept.

Agree withe the cancellation of the HOF game. Flip a coin and play the game in a home stadium the following weekend.

Mort said an agreement in principle could be had within 24-48 hours at the rate the two sides are going.

Couple of points:

Teams now must use 90% of the cap.
1st round contracts are now limited to 4 years with an option 5th.

This lockout really pissed me off for sone reason.

May I ask why? I understand a lot of people dislike the notion of "millionaires vs billionaires" fighting over billions of dollars, and I don't like it, either. But it doesn't look like we're going to miss any games. No biggie, just wondering. I never bought into the notion we'd miss games.

Seems like the the next 55 days are going to be nuts with free agency spilling into camp. Pretty excting to think of the possibilities, IMO. I'm pumped to see what happens in free agency. It's going to be chaos!

Don't most teams report to training camp the 28th? I've heard that the NFL wants about a 7 day window before FA starts. If the deal is voted on the 21st like most are saying we should see FA starting on the 28th.

That's what I've read. That's why it's going to be so chaotic. Should be some very interesting theater....and make for some very bad football, at first. It'll get better, though, and at least we'll have games.

Thought so, also I see teams overpaying free agents to keep them from leaving the city.
