Really hope the ratings rise this season. If it was on AMC or something like that would be getting huge ratings.

'Longmire' officially renewed for Season 3 by A&E

It may have taken a few months, but A&E has finally given "Longmire" a third season order.

The crime thriller starring Robert Taylor wrapped its second season back in August and executive producer John Coveny tweeted that Season 3 was a go just a few days after, but the network remained curiously tight-lipped in terms of an official announcement. Why it took until Monday (Nov. 25) to confirm the news remains a mystery.

"'Longmire' has become one of the most compelling dramas on television with a devoted audience and we are so proud of the show," A&E executive vice president David McKillop said in a statement."We are thrilled to continue our wonderful partnership with Warner Horizon Television, the production team, and the talented cast and crew led by the exceptional Robert Taylor."

"Longmire" stand as A&E's number one original drama series of all time in total viewers. The 10-episode third season will likely debut sometime mid-2014.

Are you relieved that A&E finally came around and gave "Longmire" a third season?

Move Over Mr. White

“The first warrior looked out on the land that was his Home. He saw the hills and the stars, and he was happy.”

Little did he know that land was Santa Fe.

These eloquent lines—the first two, anyway—issue forth from the lips of Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips). Standing Bear is best friends with eponymous protagonist Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) in A&E’s hit drama “Longmire.” The series, which regularly garners the attention of millions nationwide, is filmed right in our own backyard, at Santa Fe’s Garson Studios. Nearly every Burqueño was captivated by five invigorating years of “Breaking Bad,” and “Longmire” promises to be another interesting filmic resident....

While season three doesn't begin airing till later this summer some fantastic news! Warner Bros. has decided to release the First & Second season on Blu-ray!

The First & Second seasons will be combined into one 6-disc set for release on May 27, 2014

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has revealed the Blu-ray release of Longmire: The Complete First and Second Seasons. The A&E crime series is based on author Craig Johnson's "Walt Longmire" mystery novels and stars Robert Taylor (The Matrix), Katee Sackhoff (Oculus), Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase and Cassidy Freeman (Smallville). The two-season set arrives on Blu-ray on May 27th.

Synopsis: Long shadows of secrets and murder hang over Absaroka County, Wyoming, jurisdiction of the tough and brooding Sheriff Walt Longmire (Taylor). Struggling since his wife's death a year ago, and at the urging of his attorney daughter, Cady (Freeman), Walt knows he must turn his life around. Aided by a new female deputy, Vic (Sackhoff) and his oldest friend, Henry Standing Bear (Phillips), he becomes re-energized about his job and running for re-election, even though his ambitious younger deputy Branch (Chase) is a rival candidate. The unraveling truth about Walt's wife death will astonish the stoic lawman and his daughter. While shattering storms darken the skies, Longmire doggedly solves the big crimes of "Big Sky" country.

I ended up missing the original air time and had to catch one of the late re-airs last night!

Overall a solid season opening episode that leads to more questions.

I had the thought that If Steven segal was a deputy he would be kicking a lot of ass.

He's gotten so fat, the only ass he can kick is already laying on the floor.

Yeah I was talking prime segal in the days of marked for death and hard to kill.

The name is made up as I don't recall longmire ever being used as a last name.

A fantastic finale!

So does Rick Simon make it to Season 4 or did Branch take him out?

The dirty politics made me think of Chicago.

I'm assuming the whole female deputy that doesn't like to be told what to do has to do with when it's not related to her job, or the other things that longmire doesn't order.

That was a great finale, superb cliff hanger!

I knew him better as Major Dad :). I'm hoping Branch was quick enough to turn and shoot him. That'd sure get Branch back into the office pretty quick if he took out the guy that killed his wife.

A&E Cancels Longmire After Three Seasons - TV.com
Wow!! This has got to be a stupid decision sure the ratings dropped some but it was still there highest rated show!

Bates Motel actually rates higher in the 18-49 DEMO but come on!

Its left the TV critics etc.. scratching there heads!

Longmire Was Just Cancelled In A Shocking Move By A&E
Boasting almost five million viewers an episode and a pretty rabid fanbase, it was widely assumed Longmire would be auto-stamped for approval by A&E to film another season, but shockingly, the network decided to go in a different direction. Last night, the adaptation of Craig Johnson’s mystery novels was up and cancelled with little more than a short, overly professional statement. It deserved so much better.

According to Deadline, Warner Horizons, the studio that funds and produces Longmire is planning to try and sell the show to another network as soon as possible. Given the show’s excellent ratings (4.6 million per episode average), it’s likely someone else will take a bit if the price is right. It’s one thing to cancel a popular show with slumping ratings after it’s already been on the air for seven or eight years and has ballooned in cost. It’s another thing to cut a show down in its prime just because it’s off its Season 2 average (6.1 million).......

I would keep an eye on WGN America. They might pick up Longmire as they are trying to become more like AMC, FX and A&E!

Good lord! This was a truly good show. There was very fine writing and acting in this show. Reading some articles it sounds like A&E is scaling back to unscripted crap like Duck Dynasty et al.
