'Longmire' officially renewed for Season 3 by A&E
It may have taken a few months, but A&E has finally given "Longmire" a third season order.
The crime thriller starring Robert Taylor wrapped its second season back in August and executive producer John Coveny tweeted that Season 3 was a go just a few days after, but the network remained curiously tight-lipped in terms of an official announcement. Why it took until Monday (Nov. 25) to confirm the news remains a mystery.
"'Longmire' has become one of the most compelling dramas on television with a devoted audience and we are so proud of the show," A&E executive vice president David McKillop said in a statement."We are thrilled to continue our wonderful partnership with Warner Horizon Television, the production team, and the talented cast and crew led by the exceptional Robert Taylor."
"Longmire" stand as A&E's number one original drama series of all time in total viewers. The 10-episode third season will likely debut sometime mid-2014.
Are you relieved that A&E finally came around and gave "Longmire" a third season?

A&E Cancels Longmire After Three Seasons - TV.com
Boasting almost five million viewers an episode and a pretty rabid fanbase, it was widely assumed Longmire would be auto-stamped for approval by A&E to film another season, but shockingly, the network decided to go in a different direction. Last night, the adaptation of Craig Johnsons mystery novels was up and cancelled with little more than a short, overly professional statement. It deserved so much better.
According to Deadline, Warner Horizons, the studio that funds and produces Longmire is planning to try and sell the show to another network as soon as possible. Given the shows excellent ratings (4.6 million per episode average), its likely someone else will take a bit if the price is right. Its one thing to cancel a popular show with slumping ratings after its already been on the air for seven or eight years and has ballooned in cost. Its another thing to cut a show down in its prime just because its off its Season 2 average (6.1 million).......
Longmire fans dedication to saving the show has paid off. Ive learned that Netflix, following several weeks of negotiations, has closed a deal for a 10-episode fourth season of the drama series to premiere in 2015 in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
