I watched a some of Longwood's game against Radford and here are some of my impressions:

- We should be able to do what we want in the paint. They don't have anyone inside who can match Aidoo, BHH, or Fulky's height and athleticism on the offensive end; Uros will be able to do what he does cleaning the gathering misses on both ends.
- They swing the ball well on the perimeter, but they make some sloppy passes and do rely heavily on shot fakes. If we close out and our guards continue to defend at the level they've been playing and stay grounded like they're coached to do, it's going to be a long afternoon for the Lancers.
- They don't have anyone who can stay in front of Chandler or Zeigler, JJJ will be a nightmare match-up for them on both ends of the court.
- Longwood has only lost 1 game since the new year, but I do think they were over-seeded as a 14, just as we feel we've been under seeded.

No doubt their intensity and focus will be at a different level for the NCAA tournament. They've made history for their school and they would love nothing more than to shock the world with an upset, obviously, but in order for them to do that, they'll have to shoot the lights out of the gym (they're capable) and we will have to be ice cold; I believe the NCAA committee did us a favor by disrespecting us with our seeding. VOLS 77 Lancers 46

I think/hope this is where one of our most telling metrics - no losses outside Q1 - is a testimony to the ‘take care of business’ mindset of this team. We have no head-scratcher losses, indicating that our focus in games we should win is very solid. My only concern apart from any lingering post SEC Tourney celebration distractions, is how well the coaching staff has been able to insulate the players from all the seeding noise. Like everyone else my hope is that the chip on their shoulder will be heavy and serve as motivation, not distraction. I too have homeworked the Lancers a bit, most recently against Winthrop in their conference title game, and one of my takeaways is that the height differential alone should absorb any underperforming by the Vols; we tower over them in the paint, and that is not an exaggeration. I think we coast in the opener 82-56.

On the offensive end, Uros is a very good passer. The guards are using him well to get space from their defenders. He’s also really good at sealing off and creating lanes to the rim. He also tips out missed shots that his teammates end up getting credited with the rebounds. He’s been filling a role perfectly. Most of his minutes are early while neither team is in the bonus shooting free throws. He wins most of the opening tips which often creates an advantage with an extra possession.

On the other end he’s doing a good job with the help defense. He moves pretty well for a 7 footer. He’s not just standing under the basket swatting away shots at the rim. He’s out blowing up screens and frequently defending the perimeter.

Posters that constantly trash Uros are just showing their ignorance.

Well to be fair it is extremely frustrating watching him miss layups when he could easily just dunk the ball.
I know you want to see him dunk! Me, too!

However, he is not there yet. I will make a prediction that you will see a dunkfest next season ... with Aidoo, BHH, and Uros to a lessor extent.
They are still thinking too much. When it gets more natural ... and they just play ... oh my!

He’d get more dunks if he was a shoot first player. Instead when the rare opportunity comes along, he’s typically not in a perfect position to attack the rim. It’s not simply that being tall means dunks are easy. There’s very little time to switch from setting up a teammate to instead get the ball down low and get it up and in while opponents are collapsing to defend the rim.

I’ve been calling for Uros to dunk more like it’s no big deal. Through the regular season I only watched the Vol games but I’ve been watching a lot of different games the last 2 weeks and it’s made me rethink dunking. I’ve see plenty of tall guys get the ball close to the rim and get fouled or their dunk attempt blocked by a guard or forward. Every team seems to have athletes who can challenge shots. It appears the key is to get the ball on the backboard as quickly as possible to force goal tending if your in a scrum

The unfounded Uros hate for a role player getting 10-12 minutes a game continues to be a big head scratcher. It’s like some think he’s an underperforming 5star recruit. He’s probably playing pretty close to his natural talent level
He’s a board warrior. A paint space eater. He’s a physical brute/ verbal assassin. He is out there to get rough in the paint, battle for boards, lean on the other teams’ 4’s & 5’s, exhaust them, and try to get scrap junk put backs.

Watching him catch a good pass when he slips open and miss it b/c he didn’t dunk it does suck. IMO he gets way to excited then muscles it to the rim. Dude just brings a new level of brutality to the floor…he fires that defense right up and gets them ready for war!

He isn't there yet? He's 7 feet tall. He can probably reach the rim flat footed.

Some folks don’t realize how valuable role players are. Especially if they never played the game at any level. GBO!

Sorry but Uros ain’t dominating ANYONE down in the paint . He is a rebounder , nothing else .
This was a strange post. None of the previous posts in this thread said anything about Uros Plavsic dominating the paint. Who were you replying to with this?

Many, if not most, dunks begin far away from the rim. You’re not going to see Uros take off from the free throw line and throw it down like Michael Jordan.
I'm talking about put backs. I dont expect to see Uros do anything from the FT line. Multiple times I have seen him get a rebound and try to go up soft and drop it in instead of just dunking it.
