I think there are no guaranteed losses. Our defense is strong enough to keep us in games. If you are like me and believe that we just had a bad game and Heupel has had an approach to playcalling that is too conservative, I think the Arkansas game was a wakeup call.

I personally think we will be favored in every game minus Georgia going forward

I think we'll know after the Florida game.
If they come out with the same predictable, conservative play calling we will likely lose to FL as bad as they are and not much reason to believe they are going to get better.

If the O-line is struggling to protect, there are so many ways to create plays using TEs, RBs, rolling the pocket, screens, quick passing game, etc to take the pressure of the OL and get Nico some better options.

Heupel shouldn't have needed a wake up call loss to Arkansas to know throwing in the flat, running up the middle, and an occasional deep shot isn't gonna get it done.

Depending on the results of the Florida game I think you are dead on. We are in a similar situation to Oklahoma we gotta figure out something with our Oline. As far back as UTC there have been signs and It as very clear Vs Olkahoma and Arkansas.. but even vs NC state and Kent state Nico was getting pressured a lot more than he should have vs the level of competition. As a team we have gotten 9 sacks and given up 10. 10 is not a huge number for 5 games but its does not count the times Nico was pressured. How often do you see Nico drop back and not be pressured. These guys are dropping 6-7 men in coverage and still getting quick pressure vs max protect. In a lot of our plays we have 3 guys actually running routes.

If we can shake this off get some gelling on the Oline and handle Florida we likely go into the Bama game as favorites. They play USSe who is probably a better team at this moment than FL.. But as Vandy has proved and Kentucky before than you cant sleep on anyone in the SEC or college football in general this year. NIL has brought a level of parity never seen before. Look at the standings in any of the P4 conferences and its clear. There is a middle class again in college football.

How many wake up calls does he need is my question. I dont believe there are any guaranteed wins nor losses. I agree the defense is good enough to keep us in the remaining games but the offense can be bad enough to lose a few more.

It only has THAT much of an impact on your outlook, if you tend towards being very reactionary, anyway.

UTEP and Mississippi state are pretty awful so certainly wins. I might worry about Kentucky at little more if it wasn't at home. Florida is a toss up, though favoring us at home. Vandy is tougher now, but they haven't exactly been competitive in awhile. This Vandy team also lost to Georgia state, so really anything can happen with them.

The big two of Bama and Georgia are probably losses, but you never know. Bama could play like the did against Vandy. Georgia could play like they did against Kentucky. Anything can happen.

This team could be anything from 6-6 to 11-1. Some things have to change bigly for the latter result to happen.
Indeed...just has to play itself out. Injuries, and attitudes of 18-22 year old kids, and troubles off the field. We can't predict the future when there are so many variables. Heck, if any more of Georgia's players end up in jail, we could steal one from them.

Our D will only get us so far with an offense that keeps putting them back out on the field against SEC competition. If we keep doing that, then FLA, Ky and Vandy are toss ups, BAMA and UGA are losses. If we find our 2022 offense and someone learns how to call plays again, we will be fine.

If we lose to Florida we will finish 7-5 at best. They are terrible and we're at home. Absolutely no reason for them to beat us. Unless we just suck way more than we all thought.

You people blaming the play calling are crazy. Fix the OL and all of a sudden those play calls are going to be much more successful.

My concern is that we might not have anyone on the roster to improve the OL play. If not, there is no play calling in the world to get around how poorly the OL played against Arky. Both OTs graded in the low 40s, and the rest of the OL played poorly, too. Impossible to win on offense with that.

Heupel had to call conservative plays because his offensive line was getting destroyed. Heard couldn’t block a phone number.

The roster, at least as far as the younger guys are concerned, is pretty well loaded with 4*s. Staff has to develop these guys. Elarbee has been here since the get go. Something has to change with development of these guys soon.

Preseason, I had us at 10-2 with us losing in Norman and winning one of Alabama/Georgia. Based on what I'm seen now, Alabama and Georgia look like losses. Florida, Kentucky, and Vandy look like rock fights.

Alabama and Georgia are probable losses if the offense doesn’t improve significantly. Miss St and UTEP are probable wins. All else are toss up games depending on which team shows up. That Arkansas loss was huge and killed the early season momentum. Right now I think 3 more losses until I see a competent offensive performance.

Do you think Heupel is calling games conservative because he just doesn’t like scoring points?

I will reserve my opinion until after our first offensive possession this weekend. If we come out with some fight and creativity, then I think we have a shot against anyone. If its another 4 and out, I'm going to take up fly fishing this fall
