Looking at the Schedule, NOW

We beat Florida this weekend, we’ll all feel much better. We beat ‘Bama next week and everyone will be back to talking about a championship again.

‘Bama looked like worldbeaters the first half against Georgia, but their defense has been a sieve for the past 6 quarters.

The Tide also cannot run the ball well outside of Milroe. Vandy largely contained their rushing attack aside from about 3 plays.

It will be interesting to see how well both the Vols & Tide respond this week after those tough losses. Will they be out to redeem themselves? Or will they fold?

Nothing is a given anymore. That's a fact. I cannot, with any certainty feel like UF, UK, or VU are wins. A loss to any of those 3 is on the table.

I feel pretty certain we will not beat UGA OR Bama. We are just not in a good spot right now to beat either. We won't score enough to beat either.

I feel somewhat certain we beat Miss St and UTEP. Lose to either of those and Heupels days are numbered. They may be numbered with losses to first 3 mentioned. Should not be losing games like that or the one we lost against Arky at 4 years in after the way things have gone so far. No excuse.

I think there are no guaranteed losses. Our defense is strong enough to keep us in games. If you are like me and believe that we just had a bad game and Heupel has had an approach to playcalling that is too conservative, I think the Arkansas game was a wakeup call.

I personally think we will be favored in every game minus Georgia going forward

The SEC is a meat grinder, not exactly a revelation. We lost a tough conference game on the road to a team that isn't as bad as everybody seems to believe, and we had multiple chances to make 1-2 plays that change the outcome. It happens.

There isn't a sense of desperation, and Heupel's seat isn't 'warm' like some believe. If there is anything but confidence and a renewed focus in the locker room, then somebody is doing something wrong.

I'd be very surprised if we don't see a completely different group on Saturday night.

So you have to know Heard's Issues, (You see Him in practice) and you run some quick WR motion screens or RB screens and get the Ball out before the rush gets to Nico. And maybe you play someone else. Couldn't be any worse than what we saw Saturday.

I would love to see some quick slants and curls to make teams pay for blitzing, and I'd also like to see some runs outside the tackles. Most important for this offense is staying ahead of the sticks, getting a lot of 2nd and shorts, which is when you can take some shots. Not sure how he's looked in practice, but I'd love to see Mike Mathews get some run.

Short of a complete implosion, Heupel's job is not remotely in jeopardy. Not even a thought outside of social media. I don't think people really understand the ramifications of a coaching change. This isn't Madden or some fantasy league - the whole damn thing starts over, recruiting is back to square one, half the team hits the portal, etc. There's so much more involved than simply changing the name of the coach.

If he goes 6-6 with this roster, he will enter next season with an immense amount of pressure to win double digit games to prove this season was an absolute fluke. Things generally don't unfold like that though.

I don't think we're going 6-6, but I can say if we continue to play like we did Saturday night the rest of the way, we absolutely could go 6-6. I'd like to think we rebound from this and pick up a big win Saturdauly and go into the Bama with some renewed confidence. But again, I'm completely clueless on where we go from here as a team. I wasn't ready to crown us after blasting NC State and grinding one out against OU, but I did feel like we were holding back on offense. Saturday night proved that wrong.

We are a solid rushing team, but our OL is below average at pass blocking which is putting it nicely. JH is not confident at all in Nico right now and it shows with the how the games are being called and it may very well be with good reason. The way he ended the game the other night is extremely alarming.

Long story short, JH needs to regroup this team and show quickly that he can get the offense rolling again, because if loses this weekend, this wheels will fall off fast on this season.

I'm not arguing with a thing you said aside from Heupel being on some 'hot seat'. He has established a culture here that was missing for a decade and a half, and built up the recruiting from ground zero. It would take a crazy implosion for White to even start to consider a coaching change.

I'm not ready to draw any conclusions on this team at this point like so many seem to be doing. Nico is still a RS freshman and Josh is probably bringing him along slowly for a reason. I would expect the offense to open up more as we go, but a lot depends on the OL play and the WR's getting separation.

I hope to see more quick slants and curls to combat blitzes and help the OL, and hopefully more runs outside the tackles, and more called run plays for Nico. Mainly, just staying ahead of the sticks and getting in short yardage situations, which will allow us to take more shots. We're going to see a different team on Saturday.
