Looking at the SEC picture right now

10-2 will get Vols in playoffs cause if they choose bama over us with the same record then things will be bad

Nope. 10-2 is not a guarantee of anything, and it never has been. The people saying "Tennessee at 10-2 has to be in" are fooling themselves.

The Vols have one of the weaker schedule this year, and they've got one signature good win, which came at home. If Tennessee loses on the road to UGA, their shot at getting into the playoff will be razor thin, and depend more on how other teams win or lose, than it will on Tennessee itself.

Tennessee had the head to head over Alabama in 2022 and it didn't mean diddly squat.

The only 2 teams Tennessee will have wins against that will have winning records against at the end of the season is Chattanooga and Bama. TN will be left out of the SEC 2 loss teams. Our resume doesn’t stack up to any of the other 2 loss teams. And we will not get chosen over Bama. Elimination game next week.
Elimination game next week is not fact.

2022 wasn't for a playoff spot and Hooker was out for the season after the SCar loss. The committee had "valid" reasons for discounting the head to head and nobody really cared outside of our fan base because neither team got a playoff spot. While 10-2 certainly doesn't guarantee us a playoff spot, it most certainly doesn't eliminate us from getting one.

Strength of schedule makes a difference in the playoff selection. We have one win over a team with a team over .500, Alabama. Every other team has a losing record. Arkansas is at 4-4 and they beat us.

Arkansas is 5-4. Oklahoma is 5-5. Kentucky is bad but beat Ole Miss that just demolished UGA.
UGA has 4 conference wins over 4 SEC teams that have losing records. They only got credit because, well they are UGA and then beat Texas.

I understand completely strength of schedule but don't agree with the premise that the worst of the SEC schools are worse than the worst of the ACC, B1G, et al teams either.

That Arkansas loss sucks even more. If we had won that game like we should have we'd be the lone undefeated team in the SEC right now and could afford to lose to Georgia next week. As it stands, next week is pretty much must win. It's looking less and less likely that we'd get into the playoff with 2 losses.
Our path to the sec championship is pretty much wide open right now. We just need to win.

It's almost like some of you want us to not make it so you can bish about it.

We can still make it with 2 losses.
I doubt this is true since Bama beat LSU so badly at night.

If Tennessee loses to Georgia we would really need TAMU to beat Texas to have any real shot. That is unless the committee takes more than 4 teams from the SEC

The only reason we need to be in SECCG is to get to the playoffs if our record would not get us in as an at large invite. IMO it would be better to get in as an at large team rather than risk a loss in SECCG.

This. If Georgia beats Tennessee, Alabama and possibly Ole Miss will rise above us in the rankings.

The committee will choose Texas, Georgia, Bama and Ole Piss.

If TAMU can manage to beat Texas, then Tennessee might stand a chance of making it in.

There are not 7 teams in the ACC competing for 4-5 playoff spots.

If Vols lay a major egg vs. Georgia, they will be toast like LSU. If they play within 3 - 6 points and look good doing it - they are still alive but might need some help. Big boy football next Saturday and let's see if the orange/white boys can match up in Athens. Some of the Big Ten pretenders need to falter but time is running out for that. Ole Miss shook up the standings as did Alabama by waxing LSU on the road. Vols will need to create a dawg pile in Georgia which would earn them the right to minimally host a game at home - maybe Ole Piss.

I think you could get 5 SEC teams. But that requires Notre Dame losing

5 SEC (TN, UGA, Bama, Texas, Ole Miss - AM still in it too)
4 BIG (Penn St, Ohio St, oregon, Indiana)
1 ACC (Miami/SMU)
1 Big 12 (or whatever they are - BYU/Colorado)
Boise

Notre dame will take an SEC spot if they win out. They have Virginia, Army, and USC left. I think this is the key to getting in with two losses.

Yeah but don't forget they might include a non power conference team like Boise St for "inclusiveness"

There is only one problem with this argument.

We are not a 2-loss team.

The SEC needs Penn St. and/or Notre Dame to lose a game hopefully knocking one of them out of the playoffs. The following could happen:
Texas 11-1 vs. Alabama 10-2 for the SEC Championship. Both get into the playoffs
Then we have:
Georgia 10-2
Tennessee 10-2
Ole Miss 10-2
Why would our Arkansas loss be worse than Bama's Vandy loss? They are both 3-3 SEC teams.
Because the selection committee likes Alabama better than Tennessee. Listen to all the ESPN college football 'experts' talk about Alabama all day long.

Those people were correct until Ole Miss beat Georgia. Now that Ole Miss has a spot in the playoffs alongside Texas and Bama - we have to eliminate Georgia to get in.

Unfortunately, right now they are more interesting and exciting with the way Milroe is playing.

That list is including Boise as the 12

5 SEC
4 BIG
1 ACC
1 Big 12
1 Non power 5

Again that is with Notre Dame losing. Notre Dame wins out, looking at 4 SEC

If we win out there is no question. If we win out that includes the SEC Championship Game and a bye. So the win out the regular season first, the rest will be for show.
Regardless would the playoff committee like Tennessee to host one game in Neyland?

LSU has 3 losses though, 1 to a USC team that has taken a nosedive. I do agree we have to play well in Athens.

Tennessee is 5-1 in the SEC and it just means more.
It is called the Grind for a reason.
Time will tell.

Tennessee plays in a league that faces multiple 4* and 5* every weekend against an SEC Schedule
Tennessee faces top of the line coaching staffs in the SEC
It just means more.

The SEC is as close to Semi Pro as you can get with little drop off.
