Hey. I really enjoy ur perspective from the parents point of view. It brings back to reality that these top recruits are just kids trying to figure out who they are. As a fan its easy to get caught up in the stars and forget we cant paint these kids into such a small corner.

I have been trying to find out how the croomster is doing. Cant find any updates on him. He and Alton were the two players I was really excited to see last year. If you dont mind please give us an update and tell him we cant wait to see him on the field. (Hopefully in the spring game)! Is he going to TE or stay at WR?, how's his health?

I have a super secret/super insider source that tells me the cromster is preparing to go straight azz beast mode on opponents in 13!

I miss MZ TERRY too.

She tells it like is is and she knows alot more from the players than anyone around here knows.

She was on here shortly after bUTch was hired and BLASTED alot of people on here and she was seriously pissed off.

She said bUTch knows exactly what he's doing and it will take awhile but she believes CBJ will get us back where we belong.

She's sick and tired of all the negative BS that never ends on here and was really pissed that a good player near where she lives and his parents came here to VN and after all the crap they read on here had decided Tennessee wasn't the place for their kid to come play.

She and the CROOMSTER are both working hard to try and get this kid to come to Tennessee and play but they were really turned off at all they read here on VN so she doesn't know for certain how it will turn out.

I've said many times that recruits and their parents do come here and alot of people ARE hurting our recruiting no matter what people say to justify their negative garbage.

We all know that many people on here are NOT Tennessee fans and are just trolls here to hurt us anyway they can but we need to constantly point out those trolls and let eveyone know they're just here to stir the pot and try to hurt our recruiting and keep us down.

MZ TERRY....We saure miss you and wish you would come back soon and give us some good inside info.

The CROOMSTER can be a WR but if he keeps growing and works hard on his blocking a move to the TE position will be great for us and for his NFL future.

Having him able to play WR and TE can really help us alot and he'll be hard to cover as a TE.

I really look forward to seeing him play next season because I believe he can become a great one for us.

Thanks. I didnt realize she wasnt posting here any longer I just thought I had missed her posts. Their are some that cant simply disagree they have to make it personal. Comes with the territory I guess. I hope this is only temporary for her. Surely parents that read these posts know that a lot of the negative people are not real fans and the few that are dont represent but 1% or less of the fan base. I mean there are millions of 49ner fans but just because a handful try to fight fans of other teams doesnt mean they are all that way.

Anyway, last I heard he was injured and they were considering moving him to TE. I think he could be a dominant player for us at either position and hope to see him out there soon!

I call bs. No one makes that kind of life altering decision based on some anonymous posters on some message board.

Please provide the name of this really good player who isn't coming to TN solely because of internet message board drama.

I concur. If the kid is that sheltered, he probably doesn't have a real bright future in football at all. Might as well go to Vandy and get a degree

Listen folks. If the parents can't take a little criticism or if they don't realize that most negative posts are trolls then we don't need their son playing for us. The first time he gets criticized he will run to mommy. If they are not smart enough to know that most on here are trolls then their son has no way of making it in class. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I believe this site has little or no effect on recruiting. If it does, then those that it effects need to grow the hell up.

Firstly, the majority of negative posts on this message board and on TOS are vol fans, some of them are long time members, and NOT trolls. There was a lot of angry and aggressive spewing during the last couple of Dooley years and it reached a fever pitch the day CBJ was announced. It was embarrassing actually. The meltdowns are pitiful. Secondly, recruits and current players absolutely do get on these sites. Think about it...if you were a 16/17 year old kid who could Google his name and find endless chatter about yourself...wouldn't you be tempted to read...and wouldn't you perhaps lack the maturity to properly digest some of the crap that is written by complete moron fans that have no clue what they are talking about and who think that they are actual evaluators of talent? I love the posters that can't even navigate the recruiting forum but then decide to post about how lame a 3* is. Negativity from our fanbase does get to these kids. It just does. I believe it also got to the team last year.

You can call BS but since it's inanimate matter, it won't come just cause you called it.

You'd be surprised how not just players but other people opt to not attend a place due to attitudes and words of people associated with that place. Wilt Chamberlain nearly opted out of Kansas but the coach and boosters stepped in with assurances and privileges that would have the NCAA death sentencing them if they'd been caught in these days and times.


The fact that UT fans were a laughingstock recently got people curious about us and they peeked in here. Unfortunately, the place was in meltdown during the coaching search and they went away convinced we were a delusional den of dimwit denizens. And yes, parents and players do look in. It's the parents more than the players I and people far smarter than me have warned you about. Especially parents of minority kids when they see junk like anti-Memphis and other bigotry statements made here. If mom says NO, it's NO 98% of the time of not more. I think that kid Kimbrow who went to VU went partially due to comments here and on twitter.

So yes, players and parents, especially in these days do pay attention boards (and twitter) and it impacts their choices. Maybe not to the degree or even as often as some here might think, but it's there.

I'm not sure how you could think that negativity surrounding the program doesn't in some way negatively effect recruiting. Even if it's subliminal, reading this stuff has an effect.

That's not what this is about and I suspect you know that. It's a combination of behavior on this board.

1. The rapid rush to judgment.
2. The poorly veiled ethno-centric comments.
3. The state region putdowns. Memphis and Murfreesboro come to mind.
4. Worse of all the blatant consistency of the above conduct.
5. The second worse is the persistence of the above conduct.
6. Then there's the spite for former players who some of you hold an eternal grudge against.

This stuff can almost always be found in post threads and you don't even have to hunt for it.

Taking volnation a little too serious are we? All major CFB programs have sites like this that contain comments off all kinds.

You are kidding yourself if you think recruits base their decisions on some stupid comments on the internet.
